Your Talent

  • Fully qualified chartered accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
  • Experience of retail, e-commerce and/or wholesale operations.
  • Proven track record of leading finance departments in high-growth SME companies
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Be a forward-thinking finance leader, with an appetite for challenge and passion for personal and business growth.
  • Exceptional commercial acumen and strategic insight
  • Strong in analytical, problem solving and presentation skills
  • Ability to think at 40,000ft and operate 6ft under.
  • Experience of SAP highly advantageous (and implementation even better).

Your Mission

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in shaping the financial and commercial future of our company?  

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Finance Director to join our Senior Leadership Team. In this role, you will work closely with the Managing Director and group finance to support growth and achieve PUMA’s mission. This role is pivotal, overseeing all financial aspects of wholesale and retail business, ensuring sound financial management, and driving profitable growth. You will play a leading role in developing the company’s financial and commercial strategies, ensuring robust financial operations and shaping the financial, commercial and compliance behaviours across the business.  

Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the company's financial strategy in alignment with global/regional goals.
  • Lead long-term financial planning and annual budgeting processes.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Be a persuasive advocate for the UK’s long-term needs with group HQ teams.
  • Ensure tax implications (corporation tax, transfer pricing) of major business initiatives are considered and voiced as part of decision-making process.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee all financial operations including accounting, treasury, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of financial reports to the local and regional leadership teams.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with UK regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Performance Management:

  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Implement performance metrics and KPIs (in regard of profitability, working capital, cashflow) to track financial and operational performance.
  • Advise and support Sales leadership with pragmatic thinking and solutions to meet the business development goals of the company.
  • Drive cost optimisation and efficiency improvements across the organisation.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the team has the necessary skills and capabilities to support the company's financial objectives.
  • Promote a collaborative working environment across the finance function, and between finance and other functions.

Company Secretary and Legal:

  • Develop and implement robust financial controls and risk management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, including tax, audit and reporting requirements.
  • Represent the company with external auditors, tax advisors and regulatory bodies.
  • Be the focal point for all legal negotiations and provide/source legal advice for all relevant matters (e.g. property, sponsorship, agency and service agreements).
  • Ability to advise the company (and HQ) on legal matters in UK (competition law, property, taxes)
  • Champion the company’s ethical standards and processes in the UK.

Property Management:

  • Responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of facilities and property management within the organisation.
