African National Team Kits
Herzogenaurach, Germany, November 15th, 2024
PUMA UNVEILS THEIR NEW AFRICAN NATIONAL TEAM HOME & AWAY KITS CELEBRATING THE ESSENCE OF AFRICAN CULTURE

Global sports company PUMA has today launched the national team kits of five of Africa’s most prolific footballing nations. The men’s and women’s Home and Away kits for Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire, Morocco, Senegal and Ghana have each been constructed with identity and culture at the forefront, with intricate designs representing different takes on the country’s art, history and pride – reimagined for the Beautiful Game.

Egypt has been crowned champions of Africa on seven occasions, so it’s only fitting their new kits acknowledge the Kings and Queens the country is synonymous with. Pharaoh, sphinx, sand dune and pyramid themed designs adorn both kits, with the bold red Home jersey featuring a repeat stylised illustration of Pharaohs, pyramids and sand dunes in an all over print, whilst the white Away jersey features an attention-grabbing Pharaoh design as the centrepiece amongst a pattern of pyramids.

The new Côte d'Ivoire kits are inspired by the annual festival ‘La Fête des Masques’ the festival at the heart of Ivorian folklore. The iconic orange Home jersey has been intricately detailed with a fringe effect that is applied to traditional costumes and reminiscent of festival goers, whilst the Away jersey design symbolizes the dances performed at the festival and features a white base with green detailing to allow the elephant to take center stage. Both kits capture the vibrancy and ceremonial essence of Ivorian culture.

Morocco is set for big expectations both on and off the pitch in 2025 as hosts of the men’s and women’s Africa Cup of Nations and having the talent to go far in both tournaments, so ensuring they will be represented with kits that fans feel a connection to is imperative. Having made history as the first African team to reach the semi-final of a World Cup, the kits are a nod to their national history.

Abderrahmane Trabsini, born and raised in Amsterdam, was inspired by the beauty of Moroccan and Berber craftsmanship in creating the Moroccan kits. Encapsulating the essence of Moroccan artistry, the Home kit features patterns inspired by traditional Moroccan zellige tiles, with intricate geometric designs symbolizing unity, eternity, and artisanship. Trabsini also incorporated Berber symbols often seen in Moroccan rugs into the Away kit, with motifs representing protection, fertility, and harmony. These elements connect deeply with Moroccan heritage, adding cultural depth to the design. The vibrant red and green palette reflects the national flag, while the inclusion of the indigenous language honors Morocco’s rich history.

The new Senegal Home jersey encompasses the theme of ‘Teranga’ – the spirit of hospitality. The kit’s design draws inspiration from the nation’s workers, reflecting a fearless and progressive identity expressed through modern art and culture. This results in a clean strip with accents in the colors of the national flag. The Away kit however takes a bolder approach, with a green and lime palette that incorporates a lion print across the chest, inspired by the country’s art and design.

Four-time Africa Cup of Nation winners Ghana are iconic in every sense, both in name and nature. Traditional Adinkra symbols form a unique all-over pattern on the Home kit, with a central black star completing the statement, meanwhile the Away kit shines brightly in yellow, similarly incorporating the star and symbols as a nod to Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

Ghanaian native, Jefferson Osei set out to unite Ghanaian tribes through his kit design. Working with renowned Ghanaian painter Daniel Alum Jasper, who painted the graphic element of selected Adinkra symbols by Jefferson resonating with all the different tribes within Ghana, he created a custom print for the new Home kit. Upon initial glance, the white jersey appears to feature a simple star print; but as players begin to perspire, the symbols become more pronounced. The yellow Away kit pays homage to Ghana’s ‘Gold Coast’ and represents the colors often found in Ghanaian culture and has the adinkra symbols on the sleeves of the jersey.

Marco Mueller, PUMA’s Senior Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Apparel at PUMA said: “We are incredibly proud to unveil these kits, ones that will be worn by some of the best nations, players and fans on the continent. Africa is part of the PUMA DNA and we are proud to work together with our fantastic nations. This comes at an exciting time for African football, ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations for both men’s and women’s teams in 2025, and we’re excited to see what those next iconic moments in our kits will look like.”

Designed for the fans, the Replica jersey pairs that same match-worn look with dry-CELL sweat-wicking technology designed to keep those in the stands dry and comfortable, even on the tensest of matchdays. Ideal for both game day and everyday wear, the Replica jersey is made from PUMA’s innovative RE:FIBRE recycling technology and contains at least 95% recycled textile waste, the jersey is as much a fashion statement as it is a symbol of next-level performance.

The Authentic jersey is made with PUMA’s ULTRAWEAVE fabric, which reduces weight and friction, and features an athletic fit for elite-level performance.

PUMA’s African national team Home and Away kits are available to purchase globally from the 15th November, 2024.

King Indoor
Herzogenaurach, November 14, 2024
PUMA DIGS INTO THE ARCHIVES TO REVIVE THE KING INDOOR

In the world of football, it’s a design that requires no introduction.

The PUMA King franchise was established in 1966 with the original King, a flagship performance style that has graced football’s most famous pitches, and the feet of some of the sport’s most beloved stars.

Now PUMA reaches into its archive to reintroduce a mainstay of the King family, the 1999 PUMA King Indoor. The King Indoor’s versatility and comfort allowed the silhouette to find favor outside of sports, as a classic lifestyle shoe.

The King Indoor transcended the world of street cages and indoor courts to become a subcultural status symbol, and then a street-style star, the shoe was adopted as the shoe of choice for individualistic youth across Europe, from the UK to Italy. It’s a shoe that means many things to many different people; your team on the local pitch, or your neighborhood crew at the club. Later, German designer Jil Sander added her own spin to the silhouette that harmonized Sander’s signature minimal-chic aesthetic with the heritage of the King, marking one of the very first fashion-sport collaborations. Production of the King Indoor was then halted in 2015.

The unmistakable PUMA King Indoor is reissued for 2024 with a premium stitched leather upper, paired with a pitch-inspired lace shroud, as well as a gum outsole. Gold accents appear throughout, including on the “King” wordmark logo that can be spotted on the upper.

This year’s PUMA King Indoor campaign was captured by iconic British photographer Ewen Spencer, who is known for lensing youth and subcultures. In his early career, his seminal work captured emerging UK music scenes of the early 2000s, an era when the PUMA King reigned supreme.

The PUMA King Indoor will be making its return on November 23, 2024, and will be available at select retailers globally, including Voo Store, Bodega, Slam Jam, LN-CC, SSENSE, and Beams.

XAVI SIMONS PUMA INHALE
Herzogenaurach, November 4, 2024
DUTCH FOOTBALL STAR XAVI SIMONS LACES UP THE ARCHIVE-INSPIRED PUMA INHALE

Carrying the fearless attitude that defined it in the early 2000s, the PUMA Inhale returns as a refreshed lifestyle silhouette.

As part of the Cellerator family, the Inhale gained recognition for its signature CELL cushioning and performance-driven design, while its bold lines, contours, and curves earned it a cult following both on and off the track. The tendril-like lines crawling across the shoe’s upper are inspired by human biology, which is further evoked through the shoe’s moniker, and raging red Formstrip like an artery delivering lifeblood to the shoe’s upper. Notable upgrades to the 2024 Inhale include a wider fit and a softer midsole for enhanced comfort and wearability.

In 2023, the Inhale also became a favorite of PUMA collaborator A$AP Rocky, who selected the silhouette as the footwear focus of his inaugural collection, leading to a quick sellout and widespread fan popularity.

Matching the unmistakably youth-driven energy of the Inhale, Dutch star Xavi Simons styles the striking sneaker in its debut black-and-red color scheme.

The PUMA Inhale will be available from November 7, 2024, at PUMA.com, flagship stores, and select stockists.

A FEARLESS FIRST: PUMA’S INHALE AND INVERSE REDEFINE DISRUPTIVE DESIGN

Two fearless designs, one shared DNA: PUMA introduces the Inhale, alongside the new AI-created Inverse, a bold progressive silhouette that defies the norm.

PUMA’s latest releases bring a progressive and futuristic approach to running, blending inspiration from the future while drawing from PUMA’s rich past.

The Inhale returns as an updated lifestyle silhouette, still carrying the fearless attitude that defined it in the early 2000s. As part of the Cellerator family, it gained recognition for its signature CELL cushioning and performance-driven design, while its bold lines, contours, and curves earned it a cult following both on and off the track. First introduced in a “Jute” yellow colorway, the refreshed version now appears in a striking black-and-red scheme, with key upgrades like a wider fit and a softer midsole for enhanced comfort and wearability.

In 2023, the Inhale also became a favorite of PUMA collaborator A$AP Rocky, who selected the silhouette as the footwear focus of his inaugural collection, leading to a quick sellout and widespread fan popularity.

The newest addition to the Inhale family is the PUMA Inverse. Created using AI and perfected by human craftsmanship, the Inverse takes cues from the retro Inhale but brings a more rebellious, progressive edge. Its design is rooted in PUMA’s heritage but breaks new ground with features like a midsole cage, cushioning, and sleek overlays. The Inverse makes its debut with a red mesh upper, complemented by dark amethyst and black accents, mirroring the Inhale’s bold aesthetic.

With the Inhale as its foundation, the AI-powered Inverse redefines cutting-edge design while sharing the DNA of its iconic predecessor. Together, these releases mark a powerful evolution in PUMA’s lineup.

Herzogenaurach, Germany, 12th September, 2024
PUMA & MANCHESTER CITY LAUNCH THE 24/25 DEFINITELY CITY KIT IN COLLABORATION WITH NOEL GALLAGHER

Global sports company PUMA and Manchester City are proud to unveil the Definitely City kit for the 24/25 season, co-designed by legendary musician and lifelong City fan, Noel Gallagher. Marking the 30th anniversary of Oasis' iconic album Definitely Maybe, the special-edition kit draws inspiration from the album cover that defined a generation.

The Definitely City kit will be worn exclusively in select European fixtures, encapsulating the spirit of a Club ready to rock on the biggest stages in Europe. The design features a bold aesthetic that echoes the iconic imagery of Definitely Maybe, paying tribute to the band and the city of Manchester.

The special-edition jersey features a light straw base colour with bold blue side panels and sleeves with subtle poppy pink detailing on the cuffs and panels of the jersey. Intricate outlines of marine blue supersonic waves adorn the jersey, with PUMA paying tribute to the colour palette from the iconic album cover creating a jersey that is Definitely City.

The kit is part of the Definitely City collection, all designed in collaboration with Noel Gallagher. The full collection includes a Track Jacket and Pants, Overshirt, Bomber Jacket, Tee, Polo, Retro Jersey and Drill Top.

The collection was shot in a living room recreated from the Definitely Maybe album cover, with Manchester City players including Kyle Walker, Jess Park, Mateo Kovačić and Ederson joining Pep Guardiola and Noel Gallagher on set.

Speaking about his involvement in the design of the Definitely City kit, Noel Gallagher said: “I loved City before anything, I was into City before I was into music, I was into City before I knew what music was. Definitely Maybe is what set us on our way, the record lasting as long, you can’t predict that kind of thing. It’s a great working class, Mancunian record – it’s real.

“When PUMA approached us at one of the games about designing a kit it took about five seconds to agree to it. It’s the same colour palette as the cover of Definitely Maybe: it’s unique but it’s definitely striking, and I think it looks great. When you see people representing your Club, it’s important that they look good.

“Definitely Maybe has never lost its magic to me, I just think it’s an amazing snapshot of what we were about. With the anniversary, I’ve been listening to it a lot more than I would ever listen to it, it makes me smile – they were great times. It’s spawned a great football kit, it’s legacy lives on.”

Marco Mueller, PUMA’s Senior Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Apparel, added: "The 24/25 Definitely City kit is not just a piece of sportswear; it's a celebration of Manchester City's ongoing journey and a tribute to a cultural phenomenon that resonates with fans around the world. We've combined cutting-edge technology with a design that honours both the Club’s heritage and the legacy of Definitely Maybe."

The special kit is available in both Authentic and Replica versions.
