PUMA TO LAUNCH THREE NEW MB.01 STYLES IN FEBRUARY
Latest drop to include collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products based on Adult Swim’s animated series “Rick and Morty”

In December, global sports company PUMA released LaMelo Ball’s first signature shoe with the brand, MB.01. The new silhouette marked PUMA’s latest signature shoe since entering back into the basketball category in 2018.

MB.01 was co-designed by LaMelo, incorporating his personal style throughout the shoe from bold color choices to intricate unique details. The three new silhouettes set to release in February include fresh bright colors with the same artistic outline of flames shooting down from the ankle collar and the word “Rare” stamped on the shoe’s rubber bottom. Officially licensed from Warner Bros. Consumer Products, a highlight of the new drop includes limited-edition shoes and apparel inspired by Adult Swim’s hit series, “Rick and Morty.”


The latest MB.01s will continue to feature PUMA’s performance technology including Nitro Foam throughout the midsole for superior responsiveness and comfort, full coverage non-slip rubber compound for enhanced durability and traction, and breathable monomesh for a supportive and ultra-lightweight feel. The 3D-printed disruptive upper construction completes the shoe’s sleek design.

MB.01 Buzz City, named after Charlotte, North Carolina, represents LaMelo launching his NBA career with the Charlotte Hornets. This all-over black shoe features sleek teal accents that pays homage to the NBA team that drafted LaMelo in 2020. In addition to MB.01 Buzz City, there will be five accompanying Buzz City apparel pieces including: the Melo Dime Jacket, Melo Dime Pants, One of One Hoodie, One of One Pants and the Melo Fade Short-Sleeved Tee. The collection will be available February 2 on PUMA.com, at PUMA stores and at select retailers worldwide.

 

LaMelo Ball is stepping into another dimension with the MB.01 Rick and Morty. PUMA teamed up with LaMelo’s favorite Adult Swim program to create an exclusive new collection, with designs inspired by Rick and Morty. Classic streetwear pieces and the MB.01 – LaMelo’s signature PUMA shoe – are reimagined with neon colors and custom graphics. The limited-edition collab will feature the MB.01 Rick and Morty sneakers and six apparel items including: the Rick Hoodie, Rick Pant, Rick and Morty Long-Sleeved Tee, Rick and Morty Short-Sleeved Tee, Slime Onesie and the Rick and Morty Short. The MB.01 Rick and Morty collection will be available February 18 on PUMA.com, at PUMA stores and at select retailers worldwide.

 

The MB.01, Grey & Red style features an all-over grey exterior adorned with red accents throughout the shoe’s design including the flames at the ankle collar. MB.01 will be available on PUMA.com and exclusively at Champs Sports and Eastbay starting February 18.

Global sports brand PUMA is releasing the latest season of its MMQ line, continuing to focus on elevating sportswear classics with new materials, designs, and cuts. Like the previous seasons, MMQ’s ethos of “Macht’s mit Qualität,” German for “Made with Quality,” are maintained as the essence of line.

The MMQ line is inspired by minimal Scandinavian design sensibilities, featuring expert craftsmanship and elevated construction. It seems a natural fit that the latest face of the campaign hails from the region himself, PUMA ambassador, coach, and former professional footballer for Arsenal and Sweden, Freddie Ljungberg. INTRODUCING THE NEXT GENERATION: PUMA SIGNS ROMEO BECKHAM AS LATEST PUMA FUTURE Z ATHLETE

PUMA has signed a long-term partnership with Romeo Beckham. Romeo is currently preparing for his second season in professional football after signing with Fort Lauderdale CF, a USL League One side and reserve affiliate of Inter Miami CF, earlier this year.

Romeo represents both football performance and creative culture. His passion and commitment to the game is complemented by his energy and style off the pitch and the combination is something that PUMA are excited to be part of.

 

Romeo, 19, will be wearing the PUMA FUTURE Z 1.2 football boots: "The FUTURE Z boots match my game perfectly. They're light so that I can use my pace and agility, but they also grip the ball amazingly so I can dribble and pass effectively. I love the colours of the Under the Lights pack, which combine my passions of fashion and football."

 

Inspired by several role models in the game, Romeo reflected:

“Neymar is amazing and I love to watch him play, he messaged me when he saw me wearing Puma… this made my day. Thierry Henry has always been one of my favourite players, some of the goals he scored were unbelievable. PUMA pays homage to Max Verstappen’s first Formula One Drivers´ Championship Title with a golden race boot

Global sports company PUMA celebrates Max Verstappen’s first Formula One Drivers´ Championship title with a special golden edition of his race boot. The Red Bull Racing Honda Team driver is wearing the race boot during testing in Abu Dhabi.

“What a thrilling season final between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. It was a great honor to see both PUMA athletes fighting for the Championship. Congratulations to Max and the entire team for winning the Formula One Driver’s Championship title. Though we would also highlight Lewis’s performance through the entire season. 2021 was an amazing year for the sport,” says Thomas Josnik, Director Business Unit PUMA Motorsport.

PUMA pays homage to the first Formula One Drivers’ Championship Title of Max Verstappen with a special edition of his race boot. This Speedcat Pro model stands out in pale gold. The Red Bull Racing Honda driver received the shoe on Tuesday, 14th December, during testing in Abu Dhabi: “It was an intense fight until the very last lap of the race. It feels amazing to now be the Formula One Driver’s Champion, it has been a huge team effort. Thanks so much to PUMA for supporting and supplying me with the best race gear since the very first day I joined Red Bull Racing Honda in 2016.”

Bottas Unleashed: VB77 Drifting In The UAE

PUMA´s sponsored Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team driver Valtteri Bottas jumped in an 800bhp drift car at a private drift track outside of Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, 7th December. With only one more race remaining of the 2021 Formula 1 season, the 10-time Grand Prix winner took time out of his hectic schedule to meet up with the infamous UAE-based drift team Lunatics By Nature (LBN) to go for some laps.

Linking up with LBN Team member Dany Neville, Valtteri spent an afternoon on the track. “The sound of the V8 is incredible, and you can smell the melting rubber from the tires. It’s really really cool,” explained Valtteri.

“I’ve taken part in a lot of rallies - I suppose I have done some drifting in a way - because the techniques of car control are very similar; but I haven’t done anything like this before with a proper drift car and on an asphalt drift track.”

Bottas continues: “I’ve been driving cars since I was six years old, so that for sure helps - but for sure the things that helped me the most is my experience from rallying. In rallying you are always sliding the car and controlling the throttle, the weight transfer, the balance, and everything very differently to how you would drive an F1 car.”

 

 

It’s no secret that the 32-year-old Finn can drive anything which has got wheels. Valtteri´s driving talents have won him an army of loyal fans across the globe in both Formula 1 and Rally.

Global sports brand PUMA and football club AC Milan will release their first streetwear collaboration together, where Milanese heritage and proud footballing tradition were combined for a limited drop of footwear and apparel.

The capsule, designed as much for the terraces as it is for the street, marks a new chapter in the long-standing partnership between PUMA and AC Milan. The campaign features long-time PUMA ambassador, World-Cup winner, and current AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud whose strong professionalism, sense of fashion, and natural panache suit the collection to a tee.

The new streetwear capsule collection has been inspired by the next generation of AC Milan fans and it mixes the tradition and style of an iconic football club and a city worthy of its “fashion capital” status with modern design, underlining the Club's innovative spirit and vision, which has future generations at its heart.

Traditional training garments such as nylon waterproof coach jackets and track pants are overhauled and rendered as timeless items for the street by interlaying jersey linings, scarf-like patches, and unique AC Milan-inspired color palettes. Global sports company PUMA launches Lewis Hamilton´s special edition Speedcat Pro Spectra race boot exclusively on E-Commerce. The footwear is part of the company´s Only See Great brand campaign featuring the emblematic colors. PUMA´s “Only See Great” brand campaign is spreading messages of hope, optimism and self-belief, following what many consider to be one of the most challenging years in quite some time.

PUMA is the official Team Supplier of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team since 2012. ‘FLUTUR’: THE NEW CAPSULE BY PUMA AND DUA LIPA IS COMING SOON

PUMA and global pop superstar, Dua Lipa continue to thrill fans, announcing their first product collaboration – a limited-release capsule called “Flutur”. Dropping on Saturday, December 18th, this 90’s inspired, four-piece capsule of both apparel and footwear is a tease of what’s to come in 2022, when a full collection is released.

The collaboration features a new logo that is symbolic of the partnership, bringing together Dua’s name and the PUMA formstrip which transforms into an iridescent butterfly.

 

“For me butterflies are more than just beautiful creatures, they represent so much, like transformation, hope, and metamorphisis, over this past year the butterfly has become especially symbolic and meaningful to me” said Lipa. “The name of the capsule, ‘Flutur’, is the Albanian word for butterfly. I chose it to pay homage to my heritage while also celebrating this new beginning with PUMA.”

 

The iridescent logo is the centerpiece of the capsule, predominantly featured on the easy-to-wear silhouettes including black and white baby tees, as well as a black oversized hoodie. The highlight of the PUMA x Dua Lipa “Flutur” capsule is the Mayze, one of her favorite shoes from the brand. The triple-black leather Mayze Flutur has a stacked midsole, zig-zag stitching on the formstip, Dua Lipa’s signature logo on both the tongue and the insole, in addition to two lace options.

“It was important for Dua to release staple pieces that would complement any wardrobe. She knew what she wanted and brought those ideas to the table," says Maria Jose Valdes, General Manager of PUMA’s Sportstyle Business Unit. "This capsule is just a tease to what’s to come next year, we’ve been working around the clock with Dua to bring to life all of her ideas. The campaign was captured by German photographer Daniel Sannwald, who in the past has worked with some of the most important and influencial musicians, including Lipa. His creative genius transports us to this psychedelic fairy tale where we see Dua’s metamorphosis from the chrysalis emerging into a butterfly, from darkness to technicolor. She was shot against a black and white backdrop, with colorful lighting and visual effects that helped create this magical transformation, a true reflection of the product design and inspiration.

HITS FROM THE ARCHIVE: PUMA RELEASES THE NEVERWORN CAPSULE
Global sports brand PUMA is releasing The NeverWorn capsule, taking old-school favorites and bringing them back for the collectors of today and tomorrow.

The PUMA Archive is a sportswear and sneaker fan’s dream. This never-ending source of design inspiration serves as a creative treasure trove for new ideas and the basis of The NeverWorn capsule. Never worn and preserved for decades, deadstock products gain an authentic and visually satisfying look over time, an effect which has been replicated across The NeverWorn sneaker offering. Designs come in a modern fabric mix combined with vintage-looking looking materials, retro detailing, and graphics.

 

“The Archive is our passion and symbolizes for me the most important thing: to learn from the old to create something new – without heritage there is no future,” says PUMA Chief Archivist Helmut Fischer. “You show the people what we already had, and as time goes on, we create something new out of it. The Archive is PUMA’s soul out of which those new products are being created.”

Two iconic silhouettes from the PUMA Archive are making a comeback just in time for this new line - the Blaze of Glory and Slipstream Lo. These classic footwear styles are infused with fresh design inspiration, yet keep an old school feel with details like a faded sole and hang tags that give reference to an archive, looking as if the product had been cataloged and on the shelves for years. A range of additional footwear like the classic Suede and more niche styles like Space Lab will accompany in similar designs. For the apparel, key players from PUMA’s sporting history, like the T7 tracksuit, take center stage alongside staples like the coach jacket and hoodie, reconstructed with archival graphics and trims.

The NeverWorn capsule will come out in two releases – the first in December and the second in mid-February 2022. The first release drops on PUMA.com, PUMA stores and select retailers on December 4th.

SLIPSTREAM LO BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
The first model of the SLIPSTREAM was a basketball shoe born in 1987 as a successor to the SKY LX. It became an iconic sneaker silhouette, favored by basketball players on the courts for its performance, stability and cushioning. Off-court, it made its way to the streets, finding a following among sneaker connoisseurs and the subculture generation of hip-hop dance crews for its unique design.

Given its growing popularity, in 1988 (just one year after the basketball launch), lifestyle models such as THE BEAST and SLIPSTREAM SNAKE were also released. These lifestyle models gained notoriety in Japan, eventually leading to Made in Japan versions in the early 2000s. PUMA pioneered the lifestyle space with THE BEAST shoe with the use of faux snakeskin, leather, and faux fur in the unique and eye-catching design.

In 2021, the shoe has been re-issued for today’s consumer, staying true to its 1980s basketball heritage. The Beauty and the Beast pack is a reference to the Japanese iterations of THE BEAST in the past.
