PUMA EXTENDS W SERIES PARTNERSHIP AND SIGNS EMMA KIMILÄINEN FOR 2022 SEASON
Sports company PUMA has extended its partnership with W Series, the international single-seater motor racing championship for female drivers and has signed Finnish driver Emma Kimiläinen for the PUMA W Series Team in 2022.

In 2021, PUMA Motorsport tailored racewear specifically for female drivers for the very first time. As part of the company’s women’s platform, She Moves Us, PUMA will continue to supply bespoke racewear during W Series’ third on-track season. PUMA, which is a partner of some of the most successful names in motorsport, has supplied high-performance, flame-retardant racewear for W Series’ drivers since the inaugural season in 2019.

Emma Kimiläinen has won two races in her two seasons with W Series. Her victory at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium last August kicked off a run of four consecutive podium finishes, which saw the 32-year-old end the season in third place in the championship.

I am very proud to be racing for the PUMA W Series Team this year. With their She Moves Us campaign, our brand and values fit together perfectly and, being a professional athlete at the top level and a mother, I hope to inspire girls and women chasing their dreams in sports,” Emma Kimiläinen said.

She will now look to take her excellent form into the 2022 W Series season, which consists of support races at eight Formula 1 Grand Prix weekends, starting in Miami, USA, in May. The PUMA W Series Team finished sixth in last year’s inaugural teams’ championship and Emma’s team-mate will be announced in due course.

Formula One Driver George Russell becomes a PUMA ambassador
Sports company PUMA has signed Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team driver George Russell as a brand ambassador making the young British driver part of its lifestyle and performance program.

Fast, talented and progressive: George Russell is a natural fit for the PUMA Family. The 24-year-old Formula One driver is a rising star in the world of motorsport.

PUMA joins forces with Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN
Sports company PUMA will join the Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN as the new official race gear supplier. PUMA will provide the full range of items worn by the team’s drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, as they prepare to compete in the first race of the 2022 Formula One season in Bahrain. PUMA will also provide a dedicated training range for the team.

The latest member of the PUMA family, Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, has a long-lasting legacy in motorsport, combined with an exciting driver pairing in Formula One for 2022. PUMA will support the team with the latest innovation and technology in race gear offering super-light fabrics with the customized fit for the athletes from overalls to boots.

“There is great potential in the cockpit of the Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN and I can’t wait to see them on their chase for the podium. We are really looking forward supporting Zhou Guanyu as the first Chinese Formula One driver. Racing Driver, Presenter and Stunt Driver Naomi Schiff frankly spoke about the sacrifices and challenges of being a female professional racing driver in a “She Moves Us” video conversation for Sports company PUMA: ”I’ve had a lot of experiences in this short lifetime of mine. And the most important thing is to have your own back, because you’re going to face so many hurdles along the way. More than our male counterparts. So, you’ve got to believe in yourself. The former W-Series driver is committed to improve equality in Motorsport wants to empower girls and young women to embarke into a career in car racing: “My first race, I didn’t actually want to participate in the race. I found the whole thing quite intimidating because no one around me looked like what I look like. My dad threw me into the deep end and said, “We’re just going to do it”. So I was actualy really nervous and I wasn’t looking forward to it, but I really enjoyed myself. I came out with a big smile on my face and never looked back.”

“She Moves Us” wants to empower girls and young women through sharing stories and joint efforts to impact their rights globally.  It is inspired by global pop-star and PUMA Ambasssador Dua Lipa who said: "Sharing stories of success is all part of changing the narrative, especially in fields like sports and entertainment that have tended to amplify the accomplishments of men. PUMA Ambassador and Atletico Madrid’s goalkeeper Jan Oblak and Scuderia Ferrari Driver Carlos Sainz challenge themselves by entering each other’s worlds. In an interview with Sports company PUMA, the two athletes exchanged their passion for Football and Car Racing while challenging themselves in a Go Kart Race in Madrid.

PUMA’s sponsored Scuderia Ferrari´s driver Carlos Sainz talked together with PUMA ambassador Jan Oblak about their passion for football and motorsport. “I love football. I play nearly every week, trying to put together a match in Maranello with my team”, Carlos says. Slovenia´s national team goalkeeper Jan Oblak has been a big Motorsport and Formula One fan from scratch: “I like Ferrari. I like many drivers because the effort they are giving is amazing and it's not an easy job to do. It's not easy to drive so fast, you have to be a little bit crazy to do that.”

Racing in front of your own fans in your home country is always a special occasion which Carlos enjoys a lot: “Racing at home always helps. For sure there is more pressure, and you are quite busy. But I enjoy it, it gives me a good feeling and there are great vibes on site.” Speaking about Fans and Team support, Jan emphasizes how important it is to have a good team behind you, whatever sport you do: “Without a good team it's impossible to succeed and it's the same in football. One player cannot change a lot, so you need to stick together with everyone. And if all the team doesn’t do a perfect job, it's impossible to win.

PUMA signs deal with Formula 1 to become official licensing partner and exclusive trackside retailer

Sports company PUMA and Formula 1 have signed an agreement which will make PUMA the official supplier at Formula 1 races, granting the brand the right to produce F1 branded apparel, footwear and accessories. PUMA will also equip Formula 1 staff at track and create Formula 1 fanwear that targets the sport’s different audiences with exciting lifestyle and motorsport collections. The contract includes exclusive rights to sell F1 fanwear and fanwear of all ten teams around the race circuit starting 2024.

PUMA has a long and successful history in motorsport. It has developed fireproof overalls, race shoes and other high-performance racing gear for F1 drivers since the mid 80s as well as teamwear, fanwear and lifestyle collections for the sport’s most successful teams. Today, PUMA is the leading provider of race gear and lifestyle collections in Motorsport with partners such as Mercedes AMG Petronas F1, Scuderia Ferrari, Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake, BMW M Motorsport and Porsche Motorsport.

These shops will sell Formula 1 licensed products as well as replica teamwear, fanwear, and special edition collections from all ten teams on the Formula 1 grid and F1 legends.

“Selling fanwear at every F1 race is a fun and challenging project because the conditions at every track are different, from the hillsides of Zeltweg and Spa to the city centers of Monaco and Baku,” said Nina Nix, CEO of stichd. “No matter where the race is held, stichd will create a truly immersive fan experience that goes well beyond selling fanwear.”

PUMA Celebrates its 75th Anniversary and Rich History in Motorsport
Sports company PUMA kicked off the 2023 Formula 1 season with a special panel discussion to celebrate its legacy in Motorsport culture and discuss the importance of innovations in racewear production. It was the first of a series of events to mark PUMA’s 75th anniversary.

Founded in 1948, PUMA has been at the forefront of innovation throughout its history, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in performance, functionality, and design. PUMA's rich history in motorsport dates back to 2001, when JORDAN GRAND PRIX became the first Formula 1 racing team that PUMA supplied with both footwear and clothing. Since then, PUMA has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the sport, including Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, and produced the best product for the best teams like Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1, Scuderia Ferrari and Red Bull Racing.

 

The panel talk was held in Bahrain on March 1 and was moderated by Noemi de Miguel, a sports journalist and television presenter for DAZN together with experts — Thomas Josnik (Global Director Motorsport, PUMA), Mick Schumacher (Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Reserve driver), Gregor Huebner (Senior Manager Sports Marketing Motorsport, PUMA) and Maurizio Sicco (Consultant in Motorsport racewear, PUMA) — they explored PUMA’s milestones in motorsport, discussed racing products from different eras, and spoke about what motorsport represents today.
