In 1977, the third BMW Art Car emerged as an artistic triumph, born from the imaginative genius of the American Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. This race car, a BMW 320i Turbo, was transformed into a mobile masterpiece, adorned with Lichtenstein's distinctive "Ben-Day dots" artwork. The design gave the illusion of a moving landscape with the sun rising on the one side and setting down on the other referencing the twenty-four hours cycle of the race in Le Mans where the car proved itself in the grueling motorsport arena, achieving 9th place overall and first in its class.

Now, the spirit of that iconic Art Car is reborn in a unique collection that combines the artistry of Roy Lichtenstein with the dynamic essence of PUMA and BMW M Motorsport. This limited-edition capsule is designed to reflect the racing spirit and artistic innovation that have been at the core of the BMW Art Car project for decades. It  pays homage to an artist, who in his practice constantly sought to blur the distinction between high and low art by creating everyday objects from magazine covers and shirts to champagne bottles alongside his famous canvases.

The collection consists of a full outfit, featuring a jacket, pants, tee, cap, and PUMA Suedes, each meticulously crafted to showcase the captivating design elements inspired by Lichtenstein's BMW 320i Turbo Art Car. The visual language of "Ben Day dots" and the vivid color palette come together to create a striking and memorable ensemble.

PUMA BRINGS TOGETHER SCUDERIA FERRARI DRIVERS AND ARTIST JOSHUA VIDES FOR EXCLUSIVE DESIGN WORKSHOP IN LAS VEGAS

Global Sports Company PUMA, hosted a special design workshop featuring Scuderia Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in collaboration with renowned artist Josh Vides. The event unfolded in Las Vegas, home of the 22nd round of the F1 World Championship, where Vides introduced the drivers to his unique artistic technique called "Brushing". 

After a warm-up session, Leclerc and Sainz individually designed their own race suits, drawing inspiration from the iconic Scuderia Ferrari Special Edition race wear, creating personalized memorabilia. Additionally, Josh Vides joined forces with the drivers to craft a third race suit, transforming it into an art piece that encapsulates the intersection of motorsport and contemporary design.

This unprecedented collaboration promises to showcase the intersection of sports, art, and design, providing a rare glimpse into the creative processes of athletes and a celebrated artist. The culmination of the workshop will see the drivers receiving their personalized race suits, turning this event into a unique celebration of creativity and innovation within the partnerhip between Puma and Scuderia Ferrari.

PUMA names A$AP Rocky Creative Director for PUMA x F1 partnership

Sports company PUMA and music artist, creative, and designer A$AP Rocky have officially announced a long-term creative partnership. Rooted in the motorsport business, A$AP Rocky will serve as the Creative Director for the category with a focus on the intersection of the sport and streetwear. Rocky will focus his energy and efforts on PUMA’s new partnership with F1, developing bespoke capsules designed by him, that will influence the brand’s seasonal design directions moving forward.

Earlier this year, PUMA announced a long-term partnership with F1, becoming the exclusive licensee and trackside retailer at all races. With years of history and heritage in the sport, PUMA is eager to explore the impact that streetwear and fashion can play beyond the track. A$AP Rocky’s fashion knowledge, style and cultural expertise will bring a new perspective to the growing F1 audience. 

Rocky’s influence on the brand will be phased, most immediately taking on an incubator-style approach coined “in the lab” to begin creative exploration for where he can take the category. For the remainder of this year, Rocky will impact visuals and video content for the brand. His first campaign, which he has been working behind the scenes as both creative director and producer, explores car culture in America and the impact it has on streetwear and fashion.

Later this year, Rocky will drop an extremely limited PUMA x F1 collection. This apparel and accessories collection will provide a sneak peak into a series of capsule collections in 2024 surrounding high-visibility F1 races.

In 2024, Rocky will focus his creative attention on several Grand Prix races beginning in Miami. These collections have been concepted and designed by him in partnership with the PUMA and F1 teams. He will curate activations at each of the races and serve as the creative director for all of the marketing efforts surrounding these collections.

By 2025, Rocky plans to more fully immerse himself into the holistic product creative designs for all of the PUMA x F1 product spanning from racewear to fanwear to fashion. He will continue to participate in marketing in an ongoing effort to bring disruption to the category via innovative product design and marketing concepts. Rocky, PUMA and F1 together are eager to expand their audience and tap into the connection between streetwear, fashion and the sport itself.

PUMA AND WILLIAMS RACING FORGE LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP

Sports company PUMA and Williams Racing have signed a multi-year global partnership, which will see the company provide the Formula 1 team with official team kit, racewear for the drivers, and manufacture and distribute replica apparel and accessories.

Williams Racing, with an illustrious heritage that boasts an impressive 16 FIA Formula 1 World Championship titles, 114 race wins and 128 podium finishes, joins forces with PUMA to celebrate a shared passion for motorsport and a vision for the future. 

PUMA has a rich history in motorsport, spanning over two decades, and supplies technical apparel that meets the highest FIA standards for fire protection without compromising on comfort. As part of the agreement, PUMA will provide a full teamwear service to Williams, including all driver technical apparel and team kit.

PUMA renews and strengthens its partnership with Ferrari

Sports company PUMA has signed a multi-year extension of its partnership with Scuderia Ferrari, and will enjoy greater visibility as a Premium Partner starting next year.

In the coming years, PUMA will continue to be the licensing partner for Ferrari-branded products and the supplier of team and race wear for Ferrari in Formula 1.

The renewal of the partnership and licence agreements continue the successful collaboration between PUMA and Ferrari, which first started in 2005.
