PUMA Celebrates the Strength and Innovation of Carbon Fibre with Scuderia Ferrari HP at the Italian Grand Prix

Global sports company PUMA in collaboration with Scuderia Ferrari HP is proud to celebrate the remarkable material that has revolutionized the world of racing: carbon fibre. This Grand Prix weekend at Monza will not only be a showcase of speed and competition but also a tribute to the material that has significantly enhanced safety and performance in Formula 1.

Since its debut in the USA in 1958, carbon fibre has revolutionized Formula 1. Scuderia Ferrari HP first used it in 1982 to strengthen their car's chassis, and by 1983, they introduced the first car with a full carbon fibre structure, enhancing safety and durability. Over the years, carbon fibre became essential in F1, used for everything from custom-fit pedals to steering components. By 2014, even gearboxes were made entirely of carbon fibre, highlighting its importance in improving speed and aerodynamics.

At this year's Italian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will wear exclusive race suits, t-shirts, caps, and Speedcat Pro race boots, all adorned with a carbon-fibreinspired design that fuses the rich heritage of racing with a sleek, contemporary aesthetic.These feature an all-black base, highlighted by striking accents of yellow—a color deeply entrenched in Scuderia Ferrari HP’s heritage. In the PUMA x MAPF1 x RÆBURN collaboration, there are three distinct tiers of products that highlight different aspects of the partnership. First, the hero masterpiece jacket remade from an original race-worn Nomex® driver suit from Lewis Hamilton at the Spanish Grand Prix in August 2020, will be auctioned off online at a later stage following thee British Grand Prix. This is a unique item made only for this occasion.

Secondly, the other masterpieces are a combination of suits worn across the 2022 season by both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell as well as their mechanics. These unique items will not be available for purchase directly from PUMA but the 2022 masterpiece will be offered on PUMA.com for a raffle.

Lastly, the collection includes a super limited quantity of items made from deadstock Nomex®—unused remainders of the same high-performance material used in racesuits. These deadstock Nomex® pieces retain the integrity and durability of racewear, reimagined into stylish, street-ready apparel that embodies the essence of motorsport.

RÆBURN’s renowned upcycling techniques reimagines and repurposes Nomex® into stylish, street-ready apparel and limited-edition sneakers, such as the Velophasis and Spirex. The story of this BMW Art Car began unexpectedly in 1975 when American sculptor Alexander Calder designed a BMW 3.0 CSL race car. The brainchild of French auctioneer Hervé Poulain, this artistic endeavor was not a marketing ploy but a genuine fusion of art and automotive engineering. Poulain drove the no. 93 BMW 3.0 CSL in the Le Mans 24-hour race, and although he didn’t finish, the colorful BMW Calder received an overwhelmingly positive response, igniting a series that would become legendary.

A$AP Rocky and PUMA Drop Newest Motorsport-Inspired Collection featuring Archival Inhale Sneaker

Sports company PUMA and music artist, creative, and designer A$AP Rocky have dropped their latest collection featuring footwear, apparel and accessories. A$AP Rocky’s fashion knowledge, style and cultural expertise brings a new perspective to the growing global motorsport audience. A full head-to-toe collection includes the Inhale Sneaker, originally launched in the 2000’s, which was hand picked by Rocky from the archive.

Rocky and PUMA continue to push the boundaries between fashion and sport by leveraging performance materials and functional elements with a distressed treatment that creates the effect of having been worn working in the garage all day. 

Rocky’s intention to shift how brand’s approach taking risk through design is evident in this drop.   

  • A$AP ROCKY x PUMA SWEATSUIT: Made with a slim fit to emulate the fit of a racing suit, this piece features a distressed allover print for a worn effect, custom PUMA graphics, and wide elastic ribbing at the hem.
  • A$AP ROCKY x PUMA SEATBELT T-SHIRT : Features a sublimated graphic that mimics a driver’s 6-point seatbelt. Designed in heavyweight cotton with a boxy fit, this track-meets-street piece is rounded off with PUMA and A$AP cobranding.   
  • A$AP ROCKY x PUMA KNITTED BALACLAVA: Inspired by the balaclavas worn by drivers under their helmets,  this cozy knit fabric has a distressed treatment, button snap webbing for easy on and off wear and storage, and PUMA branding at the throat.
  • A$AP ROCKY x PUMA PADDED BALACLAVA: Designed to mimic the look of a racing helmet, this A$AP ROCKY x PUMA balaclava features a padded design, a removable visor insert, and a bungee closure for an adjustable fit.
  • A$AP ROCKY x PUMA XL GLOVES: Inspired by racing gloves, this pair has an oversized fit with a heat map printed in silicone at the palm. Molded silicone print at the back of the hand mimics veins, while badges from the collection are featured on the fingertips, inspired by Rocky’s nail art.
  • A$AP ROCKY x PUMA INHALE OG: Originally created in 2000 as a running shoe, the PUMA Inhale has secured its spot as a streetwear staple with its extreme contours. Today we’re reissuing a limited release of the Inhale in its original, iconic color alongside A$AP Rocky. Limited-edition footbed inserts designed by Rocky will be distributed via gifting only.

A$AP Rocky serves as a true Creative Director through all parts of his campaigns with a hands-on approach to not only the designs of the collection but all of the aesthetic elements and marketing that come with it. He actively directs, styles, scores and produces all of the materials around his releases and oversees the entire process. This attention to detail is evident in this campaign with PUMA through his mindful blending German expressionism with a vibrant and playful world to demonstrate how when we grow up we so often lose our child-like spirit and imagination. This campaign serves as a reminder to never limit your imagination or lose sight of your dreams. 

“This Miami collection aims to give fans the chance to have their own race suit from the helmet down to the shoes,“ said A$AP Rocky. “Other sports have uniforms available for the consumer and I wanted to bring that to the F1 category. For the visuals, I wanted to demonstrate how as adults we can lose sight of the dreams and imagination that we had as kids, and really love how it all came together.“

The collection is available beginning in the US at 10am EST on May 3rd on PUMA.com, as well as retailers globally including Nubian, SSENSE, SLAMJAM, SNS, Foot Patrol, Shinzo and CNCPTS Miami Flagship Store.  

A$AP Rocky and PUMA will also be selling the collection race weekend in Miami on Saturday, May 4th at a pop-up activation with CNCPTS from 4-10PM at 2129 NW 1ST CT in Wynwood.  In addition, CNCPTS will host an exclusive in-store activation the evening of May 3rd in the Miami Design District in partnership with PUMA and A$AP Rocky.
