PUMA emphasizes their support for women racing by extending their partnership with W Series
Global sports company PUMA resumes the collaboration with W Series, the international single-seater motor racing championship for female drivers. PUMA will tailor its racewear with a female-first design in 2021.

Race suits for female racing drivers have traditionally been redesigned versions of those initially made for their male counterparts. But this year – when W Series will stage eight races in partnership with Formula 1 – W Series’ drivers will compete in PUMA racewear tailored specifically for the female body from the very start of the design process. This means that the season-opening race at Circuit Paul Ricard, France, on 26 June will be the first time that a fully female grid will compete in PUMA racewear tailored for women.

James Clark (Head of Sports Marketing Motorsport & Operations, PUMA) said:

“Motorsport is in PUMA´s DNA, just like our brand´s principles of equality, diversity and inclusion. Hence W Series is a perfect fit with the values we share. For us at PUMA, it is irrelevant whether a driver is male or female, the only thing that matters is the passion for motorsport. We are very proud that we have been the official racewear supplier of W Series since 2019 and that this will continue in 2021. We recently launched a new women’s campaign called ‘She Moves Us’ which celebrates females who have moved culture and sports forward and will inspire women around the world. In terms of motorsport, there could not be a better ambassador for this campaign than W Series. The drive for more women in motorsport is proven by the partnership between Formula 1 and W Series this season. I am sure this will help W Series move one step forward and promote the series on a global scale. Besides our passion for motorsport, we want to make sure that the W Series drivers feel safe, competitive, and comfortable in the cockpit. So PUMA has designed tailormade race suits for female drivers to ensure a perfect fit.”

Abbie Eaton (W Series driver and test driver for Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour) said:

“A racing driver has to feel comfortable in the car, and feeling relaxed in what we are wearing goes a long way to achieving this. PUMA and W Series are aware that this is important for the drivers, and that generic, unisex racewear modified for female racers does not lend itself to optimum performance. These new race suits are tailormade to fit my body shape, allowing me to focus on racing hard.”

Catherine Bond Muir (Chief Executive Officer, W Series) said:

“W Series keeps breaking barriers as we today announce the continuation of our partnership with PUMA, who have once again shown their commitment to our mission by tailoring racewear specifically for our female racing drivers. We are determined to change the face of motorsport and PUMA will play a big part in that this year when we race in partnership with Formula 1.”

PUMA Motorsport supplied high-performance, flame-retardant racewear for the drivers during W Series’ successful inaugural season in 2019 and will continue as Global Racewear Partner in 2021. Their triple-layer Nomex race suits will ensure Formula 1 standards of safety, performance and comfort for W Series’ drivers. PUMA is associated with the highest levels of motorsport. The global sports company is the current partner in Formula One of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, Red Bull Racing Honda and Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow teams. PUMA is also the official supplier of BMW Motorsport in IMSA and Formula E, Porsche Motorsport in WEC, GT Sport, Porsche Supercup and Formula E, and Team Penske in NASCAR and IndyCar.

PUMA and W Series design special edition race gear to raise awareness for breast cancer

Global sports company PUMA has designed special edition race gear for the W Series hoping to elevate the conversation around breast cancer awareness during this weekend’s race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX (USA).

The race boots and gloves for the female drivers are emblazoned with the emblematic pink ribbon, the symbol of breast cancer awareness, and are coming in the signature colours of the breast cancer awareness campaign.

October has traditionally been the month to raise awareness for breast cancer since the 1980s.

PUMA is proud to support this worldwide campaign, as part of the brand’s “She Moves Us” platform, which highlights the women who move sport and culture forward and inspire others around the world.

“The month of October is an opportunity to elevate awareness about the impact of breast cancer, and to raise funds to support breast cancer research and prevention organization,” says PUMA’s Global Director of Brand Marketing Adam Petrick. “We are extremely thankful for the support of W Series and the willingness of our drivers to use their platforms to draw attention to this important topic.”

Barbells for Boobs is one of the organizations PUMA collaborates with. The organization inspires and encourages everyone to join in on the conversation surrounding breast cancer awareness. Barbells for Boobs foster education about significant benefits of physical activity, specifically as it relates to women impacted by breast cancer. PUMA is encouraging followers to share their unique story and/or the story of a loved one who has been touched by breast cancer. For each story shared that includes #SheMovesWithPurpose, PUMA will donate $1 per post (up to a total of $25,000) to Barbells for Boobs.

My mum has breast cancer – I found out when I was racing at Spa this year. Ultimately, for me to be on a platform with PUMA during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is really important. Everyone’s story is different and it’s nice to be able to put that out there. My mum already follows PUMA’s breast cancer charity partner Barbells For Boobs and that’s great, it’s a little community. It’s also important to talk about life after treatment and how you move on and how you can connect with other women and other people out there in similar situations. I’m really proud to be a part of all of this and help in any way I can,” says PUMA W Series Team race driver Caitlin Wood.

PUMA W Series drivers will wear the signature PUMA race boots and gloves from Thursday, 21st October at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, ahead of their season final double header.

Bottas Unleashed: VB77 Drifting In The UAE

PUMA´s sponsored Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team driver Valtteri Bottas jumped in an 800bhp drift car at a private drift track outside of Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, 7th December. With only one more race remaining of the 2021 Formula 1 season, the 10-time Grand Prix winner took time out of his hectic schedule to meet up with the infamous UAE-based drift team Lunatics By Nature (LBN) to go for some laps.

Linking up with LBN Team member Dany Neville, Valtteri spent an afternoon on the track. “The sound of the V8 is incredible, and you can smell the melting rubber from the tires. It’s really really cool,” explained Valtteri.

“I’ve taken part in a lot of rallies - I suppose I have done some drifting in a way - because the techniques of car control are very similar; but I haven’t done anything like this before with a proper drift car and on an asphalt drift track.”

Bottas continues: “I’ve been driving cars since I was six years old, so that for sure helps - but for sure the things that helped me the most is my experience from rallying. In rallying you are always sliding the car and controlling the throttle, the weight transfer, the balance, and everything very differently to how you would drive an F1 car.”

It’s no secret that the 32-year-old Finn can drive anything which has got wheels. Valtteri´s driving talents have won him an army of loyal fans across the globe in both Formula 1 and Rally.

PUMA combines street culture and performance in motorsport partner collection
Sports company PUMA puts the hammer down with their latest motorsport partner apparel collection. By blending the stylish street collection and the functional/performance RCT (Ready to REACT) line, PUMA generates a range of streetwear directly from “Track to Street”.

For years PUMA has been working with the most successful motorsport teams on the planet, such as Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, BMW M Motorsport and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team creating unique products.

BMW M Motorsport’s tire-slaying attitude in street culture has inspired trends and designs that are rooted in motorsport. The street style collection comes with rubberized branding, a three-color focus, asymmetric blocks and allover prints. The RCT collection of the Bavarian motorsport team takes it to the next level, incorporating technical fabrics and reflective branding. It also features a thermoregulating technology called 37.5, which acts like a thermostat by removing moisture when you’re hot and retaining warmth when you’re cold.

Always a strong candidate to jump onto the top spot of the podium, the Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsport street collection features inserted panels with a twin needle topstitch, woven drawcords and sign off icon details, which create a jaw-dropping effect rooted in car culture. Straight from the workshop, the RCT collection offers horizontal panel mesh knits and bonded mesh pocket zips.

Inspired by drifting and underlined with the slogan “Gives you Wings”, the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Lifestyle Collection accelerates your daily style. The lifestyle range pushes the pedal to the metal with yellow color mash ups and curved color blocking racing stripes, disrupted with embroidery and typical PUMA T7 stripes.

All PUMA Motorsport apparel partner lines are available in stores now.
