PUMA AND P.A.M. PARTNER TO DESIGN AN OUTDOORS-INSPIRED COLLECTION AND EXPLORE CREATIVITY THROUGH A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY PROJECT.

P.A.M. and PUMA come together this season to create a collection blurring the lines between streetwear and outdoor clothing, within a larger, multifaceted project - the PAM/PUMA BIO/VERSE - aiming to reconnect with the concepts of nature and community.

Established in the year 2000 by Misha Hollenbach and Shauna Toohey, P.A.M. - short for Perks and Mini - is Melbourne-born and based, relocating to Paris 2015-2019. The brand has a multi-disciplinary approach blending fashion, graphic design, art, music and nightlife and has earned a cult following for its fun, carefree, colourful clothes.

Taking the wearer from the convenience store to the hiking trail, the first-ever PUMA x P.A.M. collection features simple yet adventurous silhouettes with bold graphics and all-over prints with a psychedelic edge. Its texture and colour-rich concept is inspired by the South American Yareta, a blobby, velvety cushion plant. “We wanted to make clothes that are comfortable for a seamless transition between the city and the wild, linking both of them”, says Misha Hollenbach.

“From the start, we saw this project as an opportunity to make something together that could go beyond fashion, and the PUMA team was instantly supportive. So, as part of the PAM/PUMA BIO/VERSE, we suggested created a project that worked to protect threatened wild places on the planet; the same kind of places that inspired the collection”, adds Shauna Toohey.

The BIO/VERSE uniquely commits to real-world environmental impact through a partnership with DEEP. Through the DEEP BioDATA Platform, the project supports the installation of biodiversity monitoring technology in one of the world’s last remaining wild places – the Jurua River region of the Western Brazilian Amazon. Cloud-connected audio sensors use Machine Learning to process live sonics from the project site, providing never-before-seen insight into keystone species, animal group behavior, insect density, primate community dynamics, migration patterns, change over time, and much more. This data is fed into local and scientific communities to enhance research, understand ecosystem dynamics, propel and direct conservation efforts, and stop illegal activity in these most beautiful and vulnerable ecosystems. DEEP works with on-ground partner Instituto Juruá, and technology partner Rainforest Connection to achieve these visionary impact outcomes.

 

Spanning 20 different styles, the collection includes elevated basics such as fleece jackets and sweaters, cargo trousers, T-shirts, polo shirts, hoodies, and puffer jackets – all made with at least 20% recycled materials. The palette is nature-inspired and dominated by rich purple, lavender, green and copper tones.  Shoes comprise classic sneakers, trail-running shoes and clogs. On the minimal side, accessories - a bucket hat and cap, a trail backpack and a bottle bag set - highlight functionality.

 

Directed by Ben Ditto - the celebrated Creative Director specialising in the execution of utopian concepts - the campaign is fronted by the hottest young face in rap Thaiboy Digital, and by indigenous Australian artist Milari Barker. The audio of the campaign is produced by Swedish audio pioneer, Varg2TM and uses samples taken directly from our Amazon project site. “They are all friends of the P.A.M. family, people with the same values as us, so building something together has been a joy”, says Misha Hollenbach. “Connection and community have always been key to how we work.”

CHILDHOOD DREAMS: PUMA HOOPS AND KYLE KUZMA CO-CREATE COLLECTION MADE WITH MORE SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
PUMA Hoops and Washington Wizards forward and entrepreneur Kyle Kuzma, have co-created a collection which includes styles made with more sustainable materials such as recycled and plastic-free fabrics and takes inspiration from Kuzma’s youth and early basketball aspirations.

The collection combines nostalgic nods to the ‘90s —from color blocking to cargo pockets—with more sustainable fabrics and dye practices. Apparel pieces in the collection are made using plastic-free RE:Place fabrics or at least 20% recycled materials.

In addition, PUMA will donate $10,000 to One Tree Planted in an effort to provide 10,000 trees to a project in Kuzma’s home state of Michigan. This donation connects to Kuzma's belief that a better future blossoms by planting the seed. It’s this optimism rooted in action that’s inspired Kyle Kuzma to create his Childhood Dreams collection with PUMA.

The Childhood Dreams collection consists of apparel and footwear including: the Childhood Dreams Hoodie, Childhood Dreams Cargo Trouser, Childhood Dreams Varsity Jacket, Childhood Dreams Ralph Sampson Mule and more. The collection, which retails for $40-$250 will be available starting November 18 on PUMA.com, the PUMA mobile app and at the PUMA NYC Flagship Store.

As part of PUMA’s Forever Better sustainability strategy, the company aims to increase the proportion of more sustainable raw materials in its products. This includes committing to sourcing cotton, polyester, leather, down feathers, and cardboard from certified sources and increasing the percentage of recycled materials throughout its product range.

Global sports company PUMA together with BMW are celebrating the racing legacy of BMW M Motorsport through the release of a progressive all-new sneaker design.

Designated the BMW LGND; the new footwear piece draws inspiration from two icons of performance - the BMW M4 Series, and the world famous PUMA Speedcat line. The unique footwear concept retains BMW M Motorsport’s dynamic and intense edge which has seen the marque rule the track and the streets with its performance-focused products.

What’s more the all new BMW LGND incorporates many styling cues which are synonymous with the Bavarian marque, while also utilising the very latest in footwear development technology. THE ART OF THE PROCESS: NEW COLLECTION FROM PUMA AND MICHAEL LAU

Sports company PUMA and Hong Kong based artist Michael Lau are partnering together again for his first full collection of footwear, apparel and accessories, inspired by the creation of a product for a “SAMPLE” collection.

Based in Hong Kong, Michael Lau achieved worldwide acclaim for his collectible designer toy figures. Throughout the years, he has continually created timeless art pieces and is crowned as the “godfather of toy figures”. The inspiration behind the PUMA X MICHAEL LAU collection, “SAMPLE,” documents the mental journey of the creator, and expresses the interaction between the artist and the product. When working with PUMA, Michael’s aim is not to merely produce commercial products, rather, he is intrigued by the idea of exploring a concept as it begins from scratch to finally creating a masterpiece. That, he believes, is where the fun lies.

“Please enjoy and make fun out of the process of trial and error,” says Lau. “It may surprise you!” Michael hopes to remind everyone that sometimes mistakes will bring joy. According to his creative experience and understanding, when creating an item, no matter if it’s a figure or apparel or sneakers, the most amusing design may come from the designer or the factory technician’s unintentional mistakes. Facing these accidental miscalculations, most would dump the prototype and revise immediately. Michael, however, gladly embraces these mistakes. He observes the beauty of such “errors” from another angle and weaves these elements into his designs. His artistic perceptions are unveiled in the products for the PUMA X MICHAEL LAU collection. 

Collection pieces feature hand-drawn pencil graphics, graph paper textures, and other playful design references, resulting in products with a hand-made inspired look and feel. Prints and details play around the idea of a "work in progress" collection, while graphics inspired by Lau’s figures add a personal touch to the pieces. Many items are adorned with phrases like “Reverse,” “Too Long,” and “Too Small”. These are common words used by factories, which highlights the explorative nature of the "SAMPLE” collection.

Bringing these unique design touches to life, the Mirage Mox features a graph paper inspired print alongside bright pops of color. The Ralph Sampson Mid is adorned with digital prints and mismatched color accents on the laces and tongue. Rounding out the footwear in the collection are similar takes on the Ralph Sampson Lo and RS-2K.

The Two-Face Track Jacket is the standout apparel piece, featuring a unique print with pencil mark graphics in a reversible style with a tall collar. The apparel range includes a variety of items that showcase the concept, like the Knit Pants with '"SAMPLE” patch work and the Women's Pocket Hoodie Dress with a kangaroo pocket on the back. Accessories complete the collection with items like a Flat Brim Cap with a detachable "PUMA SAMPLE STUFF" graphic and a Tote Bag that comes equipped for storage and comfort with unique graphic prints.
