PUMA UNVEILS THE NEW BVB AWAY KIT INSPIRED BY THE STREET ART OF DORTMUND

Sports company PUMA has today launched the new Borussia Dortmund Away Kit for the 2020/21 season inspired by Dortmund’s incredible street art and fan culture.

The design of the new BVB Away Jersey celebrates the iconic graffiti displayed throughout the streets of Dortmund. The black jersey features a striking yellow graffiti stripe running from shoulder to waist and integrates grey BVB graffiti graphics into one section of the jersey.

PUMA AND AC MILAN PRESENT THE NEW AC MILAN THIRD KIT INSPIRED BY ITALIAN HIGH-END FASHION

Sports company PUMA and AC Milan have today unveiled the new AC Milan Third Kit to be worn by the men’s, women’s and youth teams for the 2020/21 season. The Third Kit is inspired by the trail blazing designs of Milan’s Alta Moda.

Milan is the fashion capital of Italy and is regarded as one of the fashion capitals of the world – a symbol of luxury, sophistication and quality. Milan is rich with culture, a true cosmopolitan city with style at the core of the city’s DNA. To celebrate Milanese and Italian high-end fashion PUMA have created a unique AC Milan Third Kit by integrating a pattern synonymous with tailoring; the iconic Houndstooth pattern into the jersey’s design.

The Houndstooth pattern is characterized by an almost checked appearance, made up of a repeating geometric block. The pattern originated in Scotland and traditionally utilizes dark and light alternating checks. The pattern quickly became a staple pattern in wool suiting and outwear and became a pattern frequently utilized in Italian high-end fashion. To include a Milan specific detail, PUMA have rotated the original Houndstooth pattern 45 degrees to showcase the ‘M’ in the patterns design.

PUMA X MR.DOODLE: A next level collab
Global sports company PUMA and Mr. Doodle have partnered to create one of this summer’s most vibrant and playful footwear, apparel and accessories collections.

PUMA enters the universe of Mr.Doodle to explore it together. PUMA logos and graphics embrace the hand-drawn doodle style while Mr.Doodle making his characters discover the world of sports. The result is a young, vibrant, playful collection with hidden messages and details throughout the design. This collaboration features unisex footwear, apparel, and accessories in mostly black and white pieces, with some hints of orange, purple and lavender.
Sam Cox, an English artist better known as Mr.Doodle, discovered his love of scribbling and doodling at an early age. What started out as usual childhood scribbles on everything from schoolbooks to his parents’ furniture has since evolved into not only a successful career, but an entirely new universe dubbed DoodleWorld. His doodling is often described as “Graffiti Spaghetti”, as his characters and patterns look like they are exploding out of the canvas.

 

“If doodling were a sport, I think I would have enjoyed P.E. at school,” said Mr.Doodle. “I'm interested in the parallels between sport and doodling, it's all about energy, I think you can feel that sense of movement when you see doodles. There's a connection between doodles and sport.”

The Sky LX Low, RS-2K, Cali Wedge, Leadcat 20 and Mile Rider are given a playful look for the PUMA X Mr.Doodle collection. The RS-2K X Mr.Doodle features embellishments like asymmetric lacing, doodles on the midsole, and a doodle arrow below the laces. The Mile Rider X Mr.Doodle features a sporty mesh upper with colorful overlays and doodle graphics on the midsole.

 

The apparel in the collection includes a wide range of clothing for both men and women. The PUMA x Mr.Doodle Reversable Coach Jacket is one of the most unique pieces in the collection; it can be worn as a plain black jacket with small doodle embellishments or reversed to become a statement piece with an all-over print of sport-inspired doodles.

Sports company PUMA has today launched the revolutionary ULTRA 1.1 football boot, bringing groundbreaking innovation and uncatchable speed to the world of football. Speed is in PUMA’s DNA, continuing this legacy PUMA introduce the next generation of speed. The ULTRA 1.1 features PUMA exclusive MATRYXEVO® technology, providing elite-level stability, durability and traction.

Following years of testing and player feedback from some of the world’s best attacking players, including Antoine Griezmann, Sergio Agüero and Nikita Parris, the PUMA ULTRA 1.1 is engineered to deliver the game’s fastest football boot. Combining a dynamic silhouette that utilizes a fully engineered and technologically advanced, lightweight MATRYXEVO® upper with an instinctive running spike outsole to create the ultimate weapon for speed.

The MATRYXEVO® upper enables PUMA to utilize a single layer of material that is closer to the foot, whilst providing outstanding support at an extraordinary light weight. This signals the first time this material has ever been utilized in a football boot. 

“A key feature of the new MATRYXEVO® material is that it is one layer. We wanted to embed all the functionality into one upper material to make it as foot-friendly as possible. This helps to create a superior fit without perforating the material to keep it lightweight, strong and durable. The feedback from our professional players and our consumer testing has been exceptional,” said Roman Girard, Senior Head of Innovation, PUMA.

After years of testing the materials properties, PUMA has worked with its partners to develop a method to coat each individual fiber – an industry first, and constructed the perfect blend of polyester yarns, carbon yarns and aramid fibers. The extremely strong aramid fibers run through the lateral side of the upper. Player feedback identified that players needed more support on the lateral side to keep them locked in, preventing the material stretching over the tooling. The carbon yarns provide superior lightweight benefits and additional foot support to ignite explosive forward motion.

Peter Stappen, Lead Product Line Manager, PUMA said: “Our goal was not to create the lightest boot possible, but to create a speed boot with optimal weight for speed to ensure features such as control, traction and comfort were not compromised. We were not about chasing grams, but about chasing adrenaline. When we put all the components together, the boot had all the essential properties we wanted; comfort, stability and durability but maintained an exceptionally light weight.”

A GripControl Pro skin has been applied to key areas of the upper to provide complete and decisive control of the ball when moving at uncatchable speeds. Bonded to the upper is a lightweight PEBA SpeedUnit outsole, featuring a split sole design inspired by PUMA running spike DNA for dynamic acceleration. The sole plate combines subtle ‘spikes’ in the forefoot and V-shaped blades for added aerodynamics, configured for explosive speed.

PUMA AND LALIGA PRESENTS THE ACCELERATE AND ADRENALINA OFFICIAL MATCH FOOTBALLS FOR THE 2020/21 SEASON
Sports company PUMA and LaLiga today unveiled the official match footballs to be used for LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank for the 2020/21 season. The football comes in two iterations; the Accelerate, which will be the primary ball for the season in traditional white and the Adrenalina, in lemon tonic fluo yellow, which will be used for El Clásico, derbies and other decisive fixtures.

LaLiga is extraordinary; it triggers feelings and emotions like no other. The fans feel every touch, every pass, every goal. It invigorates them and gets them on the edge of their seats. To capture and amplify these incredible moments and embracing the motto created by PUMA, the ball is the heart of LaLiga. The ball accelerates the fans heartbeats with the action on the pitch and produces adrenaline in their bodies as their passion flows through their veins. This isn’t just football; this is LaLiga.

Football is constantly evolving, being played at an incredible level; the skill, the technique and the talent forever growing. This season the heart of LaLiga will beat faster than ever as the passion and raw emotion LaLiga creates will take the game to the next level.

The Accelerate match football will be utilized for the majority of LaLiga fixtures. The Accelerate is a traditional white football featuring the colors of the LaLiga logo integrated into the design with custom acceleration graphics to showcase the explosive speed of the ball when moving.

 

The Adrenalina match ball, in an eye-catching lemon tonic fluo yellow, has been constructed for the special occasions and made for the extraordinary moments. This ball will be used for El Clásico, derbies and decisive matches throughout the 2020/21 season. The Adrenalina design features electrifying patterns symbolizing the nerves in the body to reflect the heartbeat increasing and the body producing adrenaline in the players on the pitch and the fans in the stands.

Both the Accelerate and Adrenalina are FIFA quality approved, guaranteeing the highest level of performance. A state-of-the-art design incorporates the latest technology developed by PUMA. The footballs are high frequency molded for excellent shape retention, durability and reduced water absorption. A unique 8 panel configuration reduces the number of seams resulting in larger panels for better connection with the ball. A 3D textural 1.2mm PU surface is integrated for improved aerodynamics, and increased resistance to abrasion and wear, resulting in greater durability. A newly developed POE foam has been added to improve touch by increasing sensitivity, providing a firmer touch, improved rebound consistency and explosive power. Both color combinations offer excellent visibility of trajectory and explosive speed.

 

LaLiga is abundant with thrilling players renown for accelerating the heart rates and emotions of the fans. Antoine Griezmann, Jan Oblak, Luis Suárez, Marc Bartra, Nolito and Nacho Monreal, together with rest of LaLiga’s players, prepare to exhilarate in what promises to be a special season.

PUMA PRESENTS THE NEW VALENCIA HOME, AWAY AND THIRD KITS
PUMA has today unveiled the Valencia Home, Away and Third kits for the 20/21 season under the banner ‘Born from Bravery’. This motto serves as the inspiration for all three Valencia kits. Each new kit is influenced by an iconic person or place synonymous with the city, having been an example of improvement and influence throughout the world. The three influences are; the Silk Exchange, the orange industry and the painter Joaquín Sorolla. The three new kits utilize patterns, prints and colors inspired by the multicultural blends that define the city and will influence future generations.

The new Valencia Home kit features a striking print inspired by the ribbed vault of the emblematic Silk Exchange building located in the heart of the city. The Home kit is a celebration of the city’s culture, which is a vital part of the club’s DNA. The jersey color is Valencia’s traditional white with black sleeves.

 

The new Valencia Away kit is inspired by Valencia’s famous orange industry, a huge part of the city’s culture and economy. The jersey incorporates a unique print on a vibrant orange base featuring a navy stripe running down the shoulders.

 

The Valencia Third kit is inspired by the famous painter Joaquín Sorolla. The incredible design and color scheme of the jersey represent the light capturing the Mediterranean. This was a style and theme used by Joaquín Sorolla in many of his paintings. The jersey features a soft print in a combination of grey, lavender and sky blue.

PUMA ENTERS NEW ERA WITH CUSHIONING TECHNOLOGY XETIC
Global sports brand PUMA, as part of a sponsored research collaboration with MIT Design Lab, has created XETIC, a cushioning technology, which will start a new era by combining the worlds of mechanical cushioning and foam. This ultramodern performance innovation will provide for an excellent comfort for walking and will be first introduced in a new street-ready sneaker called Calibrate Runner.

While the futuristic visible technology of XETIC may look like 3D printing at first, XETIC is not made of plastic, it is foam. XETIC takes its name from “auxetic materials”, structures, which behave in a certain way when they are subjected to mechanical stresses such as compression. For XETIC, this means the cushioning provides an excellent comfort for all wearing occasions.

“PUMA’s innovation department teamed up with MIT Design Lab because we needed their highexpert engineering capabilities,” said Romain Girard, Senior Head of Innovation at PUMA. “MIT has computer simulation possibilities, which enabled us to see the behavior of the material and quickly find the optimal structure for calculated cushioning.”

 

PUMA and MIT Design Lab worked with an extensive runner community to analyze individual running specifics, such as pressure points, and they then took the data to develop a specifically shaped structure that allows for progressive cushioning. The result was a structure shaped like the horizontal number 8, which is characteristic for the XETIC.

The whole team was delighted with the ability to work on a project that allowed them to explore such a new space and to see all the efforts culminating in the creation of the Calibrate Runner. Over the course of the project qualitative and quantitative user testing was used, a novel finite element analysis simulation, and parametric design to find the perfect pattern, which was named ‘Recurve’.

 

With its visible XETIC technology, Calibrate Runner has a unique futuristic aesthetic, which will appeal to the techiest of streetwear collectors, while giving athletes access to a new era of cushioning. Straight from the lab, into the future.

PUMA PAYS TRIBUTE TO MANCHESTER’S HISTORIC CASTLEFIELD AND BRIDGEWATER CANAL WITH THE NEW MANCHESTER CITY AWAY KIT
Sports company PUMA has today unveiled the new Manchester City Away kit for the 2020/21 season to be worn by the men’s, women’s and youth teams. The new Away jersey features a striking all-over pattern inspired by Castlefield and the Bridgewater canal, an area symbolic of Manchester’s past, present and future.

Whilst Castlefield’s history dates back to Roman times, it is most celebrated as the heart of Manchester’s industrial past having once been the terminus of both the world’s first industrial canal, the Bridgewater canal, and first inter-city railway. The area has now been transformed into one of the city’s most vibrant art and music hubs, as well as home to Manchester’s multi-cultural youth scene, and has flourished into a region brimming with creativity and collaboration.

“With this kit we wanted to celebrate the culture of the city. We looked for places where people come together to explore their creativity through art and music. Castlefield is rich with history and significance to the city; it truly connects with cultural youth scene and creative roots. Kids of PUMA employees star in “Back to School” campaign
Sports company PUMA has given the children of its employees a starring role in the video for the new “Back to School” campaign for its Accessories business, to promote the company’s latest backpack styles. 

As the COVID-19 pandemic has made professional studio shoots very difficult, PUMA asked employees around the world to send in home-made videos, showing their children with the new backpacks. The result is an upbeat video, which captures the joy of the first day back at school.

“When COVID-19 hit in March, we had to think outside the box,” said Daniela Molin, General Manager of PUMA’s Accessories business unit. “As many families were looking for activities to do with their children during lockdown, the project was quite fun for both parents and kids.”

 

PUMA’s highly practical AW20 backpacks come in striking color combinations and with bold logos. The PUMA Phase backpack has a two-way zip opening for the main compartment, a zip opening for the front pocket and a convenient mesh side pocket. 

The cool PUMA Academy backpack has more features, such two mesh pockets on the sides, and an elastic lining compartment inside the main compartment. Both backpacks have adjustable and padded shoulder straps, with a reflective PUMA Cat-branded loop.

The video will make its debut on social media, on PUMA.com and in PUMA stores around the world on August 1.

PUMA UNVEILS THE NEW KSI HOME KIT INSPIRED BY THE UNIQUE VOLCANIC LANDSCAPE OF ICELAND
Sports company PUMA has today released the new Football Association of Iceland (KSI) Home kit for the 2020/21 season to be worn by the men’s, women’s and youth teams of Iceland. The Home jersey is inspired by the countries unique landscape and volcanic basalt rock column formations and marks the first time the new Iceland logo will be displayed on the shirt. The logo features a new design, combining the guardian spirits of Iceland who protect and watch over the land. 

The new KSI Home jersey features an all-over graphic inspired by the volcanic activity of Iceland and its stunning natural beauty. Iceland is situated on a constructive plate boundary, resulting in the generation of spectacular natural formations, shapes and colors as molten basalt protrudes from within the Earth’s surface. The basalt then reacts with icy fresh air, leading to the production of unique and uniformed columns, symbolized by the red columns situated on the true-blue and electric blue base of the jersey. To complement the jersey, the kit also features true-blue and electric-blue shorts and socks.

 

Adorned on the jersey is the newly developed KSI logo taking inspiration from the guardian spirits of Iceland. The new logo represents solidarity and protecting one’s position, the home turf other teams should fear. The spirit symbols are famous in Icelandic folklore paying tribute to the country’s fighting spirit and heritage. The logo features a modern version of the guardian spirits, showcasing the four spirits intertwined to form a single entity, the bull, the giant, the vulture and the dragon. 

The new KSI Home kit will be available for pre-sale on August 10th and will be on sale instore August 21st on PUMA.com, at PUMA retailers and at select retailers worldwide.

Sports company PUMA has today unveiled the new AC Milan Home kit to be worn by the men’s, women’s and youth teams for the 2020/21 season. The Home kit is inspired by the elegance and grandeur of the city of Milan, its magnificent structures and its iconic architecture.

Milan is a city rich with culture and history; it is a city of glamour and creativity, home to some of the world’s most beautiful and historic architecture. To celebrate the essence and culture of the city, the new Home kit pays homage to Milano tradition and its contemporary design. 

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is at the heart of the city, it offers a glimpse into the Milanese soul, complementing the city’s past with a modern approach to design. The Galleria is Italy’s oldest shopping mall, housed in a four-story double arcade in the center of Milan and is named in honor of the first King of Italy. The striking patterns and architecture of the Galleria have inspired the all-over pattern printed tone on tone within the jersey’s traditional black and red striped design, adding a modern twist to an iconic design.
