RUNNERS RACE THROUGH BOSTON TO ‘CHASE THE HIGH’ AS PUMA HOSTS FIRST EVER UNSANCTIONED RACE

More than 50 runners from North America, Europe, Asia and South Africa took to the streets of Boston as PUMA hosted its first ever unsanctioned running experience, ‘Chase The High’.

  • Runners from across the globe take to the streets of Boston to compete in ‘Chase The High’ – an unsanctioned running experience hosted by PUMA.

  • Race winners took home a year supply of PUMA running gear including newly launched Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3.

Participants were given just ten minutes to plan their route to three Go Wild checkpoints located at iconic locations around the city including, The Emerald Necklace on Boylston Street, Killian Court at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Charles River Esplanades.

As they ran through each checkpoint, runners picked up a marker from a member of the PUMA Elite Running Team, before making their way to their next checkpoint. After collecting all three markers they raced back to The High Point to try and claim the title of ‘Chase The High Champion’.

Jake Martinez from Boulder, Colorado, and Johanna Gretschel from Austin, Texas crossed the line as first male and female, taking home a year supply of PUMA running products including the new Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3.

“It was an amazing night out in Boston – this is what the running community is all about. There was so much energy out there and no better way to end the night than here at PUMA,” Jake said.

Johanna added “I have a lot of friends racing Boston Marathon on Monday and I’m just so excited to get the weekend started off on a good note, taking home the win and getting my friends ready to roll.”

PUMA also awarded the second and third place runners a pair of Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3, plus a $500 and $200 PUMA gift card respectively.

PUMA REVEALS FAST-R NITRO™ ELITE 3: THE SUPER SHOE USING SCIENCE TO REVOLUTIONIZE YOUR RACE DAY

PUMA has officially unveiled the much anticipated Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3, its fastest ever running shoe, engineered to aid your pursuit of a new personal best.

  • A biomechanics study has demonstrated that Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 improves running economy and could knock minutes off your personal best.

  • The lightest race day shoe ever produced by PUMA; Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 is engineered to make you Go Wild and have the time of your life.

  • Available to purchase in limited supply exclusively at ‘The High Point’ – PUMAs ultimate Boston Marathon experience – from Friday 18th April.

Debuting at the Boston Marathon, Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 combines state-of-the-art technology with cutting-edge design, providing runners a rate of efficiency that could potentially shave minutes off your race day records - evidenced in a research study conducted by the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

The study, led by industry specialist Wouter Hoogkamer, concluded that Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 provides 3.15% improved running economy*, which for a 3-hour marathon runner translates to an unprecedented potential marathon time saving of more than 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

Commenting on the findings, Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Wouter Hoogkamer, who specializes in the biomechanics and energetics of running said: "The most striking result from this study was the consistency of the running economy improvements. For every single participant the numbers showed that running was easiest - requiring the least amount of metabolic energy - in the Fast-R 3. This is remarkable. From years of research we know that our lab-measured improvements in running energetics translate to faster race times."

Engineered with elite runners and tested on real athletesFast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 weighs an astonishing 95 grams less than its predecessorThe decoupled midsole has received a fierce upgrade, with a new NITROFOAM™ ELITE compound providing next level cushion and responsiveness.

The restructured PWRPLATE offers unrivalled propulsion and elite efficiency, whilst retaining the silhouettes iconic extension through the forefoot and out past the toe – a unique design and performance benefit that was first introduced in the Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 2.

A breathable upper is comprised of premium, lightweight ULTRAWEAVE that ensures comfort and support throughout race day, whilst PUMA’s industry leading PUMAGRIP outsole offers multi-surface traction to ensure you make it from start to finish with a new PB front of mind.

Romain Girard, VP of Innovation at PUMA said: "We redefined the creation process to be completely digital. Optimizing this approach has resulted in science and data that proves PUMA is not just competing in the running category, we’re leading it. This is a truly generational shoe that sets a new standard for the entire category.”

Ahead of his appearance at the Boston Marathon, Canadian Olympian Rory Linkletter said: “Make no mistake, Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 is the most radical ride I’ve ever experienced, and I have the Strava receipts to prove it. It’s certainly the fastest shoe I’ve ever laced up.”

Designed with PB Chasers in mind, Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 will not only be worn by PUMA’s elite runners competing at the Boston and London Marathons, it will also be on the feet of 200 PUMA Project3 participants striving to break their personal bests, and the chance to win $3,000.

Rena Elmer, 41 from Texas who is aiming to break 2:30 at the Boston Marathon said: “It’s great! I felt so fast and fluid. Definitely my favorite racing shoe and confident I will get a new PR in them.”

Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 will be available to purchase in limited supply exclusively at ‘The High Point’ – PUMAs ultimate Boston Marathon experience located at 745 Boylston Street – from Friday 18 April.

PUMA SIGNS USA TEENAGE SPRINT SENSATION CHRISTIAN MILLER

Sports company PUMA has signed 18-year-old American sprinter Christian Miller.

Miller, who recently graduated from St. Johns Creekside High School, Florida, has experienced a meteoric rise over the past 18 months, culminating in the young track sensation joining a rare cohort of athletes to forego their NCAA eligibility and turn professional straight out of high school.

The young Floridian first grabbed headlines in July 2023, when he raced to a 100-meter victory in 10.08 seconds at the USA Track & Field U-20 Outdoor National Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, recording the fourth-fastest American high school 100-meter time on record.

In April 2024, Miller continued his electrifying form, running a 100-meter personal best of 9.93 seconds at only 17 years old. His sub-10 second PB was a new Under-18 world record, an American Under-20 record and the third fastest time ever by an Under-20.

“Christian is without doubt the most exciting male sprint prospect we have seen in a long time, and he is already making history on the track by setting junior records,” said Pascal Rolling, Director Sports Marketing at PUMA. “His performances are well beyond his years, and his decision to turn professional speaks volumes about his character. We are ecstatic to have him join the PUMA family.”

Christian Miller

“I want to the best, and to be number one you have to surround yourself with the greatest in the game – for me that’s always been PUMA,” said Miller. “The brand is synonymous with speed and when you look at their roster of athletes, they’re draped in gold. That’s what I’m aspiring to achieve and I’m excited to get the season underway.”
