Following standout performances at the Boston and London Marathons earlier this year, PUMA’s Project3 runners continued to make waves as they took to the streets of New York City and shaved a combined 1 hour, 27 minutes, and 15 seconds off their personal best times at the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon.

A total of 89 Project3 runners from seven countries including the United States, Australia, Spain, United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden and Denmark, took on the iconic 26.2-mile course across the five boroughs, all wearing PUMA’s fastest innovation yet, the FAST-R NITRO™ ELITE 3, producing staggering results in the process.

29 runners set new personal bests, with 10 improving by more than three minutes, making them eligible for the astonishing $3,000 cash prize. In total, PUMA will award $40,000 in performance-based prize money.

Leading the pack on the male’s side, Mauricio Galvan (2:19:03) of Chicago, IL, finished 21st place overall, knocking 39 seconds off his personal record. On the women’s side, Elena Hayday (2:31:22) of Minneapolis, MN, finished 12th overall. The standout of the day was Anna Weisman (2:46:59) from Kansas City, who obliterated her prior mark by an astonishing 11 minutes and 2 seconds.

“It was an honor to participate in the NYC marathon today and wear the PUMA kit,” said Elena Hayday. “The crowds were insane, the shoes were fast, and the race was truly a dream.”

“It felt so serendipitous that I was selected for Project3 after deferring NYC last year due to injury,” Anna Wiseman added. “To run 10+ minutes faster than my PB today is a long time coming and feels oh so sweet. The support from PUMA over these past few months gave me the confidence that something special could happen and it did!”

Launched in January, PUMA’s Project3 is a first-of-its-kind global running program offering participants of the 2025 New York City, Boston,  and London Marathons the opportunity to experience life as a professional athlete and trial the Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3, with the chance to bank huge performance-based cash prizes. The program forms part of PUMA’s brand elevation strategy to strengthen its presence globally and celebrate the latest brand campaign, “Go Wild”.

There were also standout performances from PUMA’s Project3 athletes, including Abigail Shoemaker (2:37:47), who finished 15th, and Katarina Mayer (2:46:38), who placed 17th overall.

In conclusion, PUMA’s Project3 program closes out the 2025 marathon season supporting 269 sub elite athletes across 13+ countries and achieving 98 personal bests overall, as well as 48 personal bests over 3 minutes. Awarding a total of $161,000 in prize money and shaving off 6 hours 10 minutes and 19 seconds in athlete personal bests. Reinforcing the belief that Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3 is one of the greatest super shoes to ever hit the road.

This weekend, New York City once again became the heartbeat of the running world. Over 50,000 participants lined up for the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon, where PUMA’s athletes rose to the occasion—posting career-best times and securing top honors on marathon running’s grandest stage.

The brand’s athlete lineup featured both established champions and rising stars. The women’s field was led by PUMA Athlete Fiona O’Keeffe wearing PUMA’s Deviate NITRO™ Elite 3. In her World Marathon Majors debut,  O’Keeffe ran a 2:22:49, smashing the American woman course record (2:24:42), by nearly 2 minutes. O’Keeffe was the fastest American in today’s race, finishing 4th overall. PUMA Athlete Annie Frisbie followed shortly after, running a 2:24:12 and finishing 5th overall in PUMA’s Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3.

In the men’s field, PUMA Athlete Patrick Dever ran a 2:08:58, finishing 4th overall in his marathon debut wearing PUMA’s Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3. PUMA Athlete Sondre Moen ran a 2:10:15, finishing 8th overall in his TCS New York City Marathon debut in PUMA’s Deviate NITRO™ Elite 3

Es ist offiziell: Der schnellste Mann aller Zeiten, Usain Bolt, hätte möglicherweise einen neuen 100-Meter-Weltrekord aufgestellt – hätte er die hochmodernen Forte NITRO™-Spikes von PUMA getragen.

Eine neue Studie, die vom weltbekannten Laufsportforscher Wouter Hoogkamer und Mitarbeiter*innen des PUMA-Innovationsteams durchgeführt wurde, hat ergeben, dass der jamaikanische Sprinter seinen bestehenden 100-Meter-Weltrekord von 9,58 Sekunden – aufgestellt 2009 in Berlin – um 0,16 Sekunden unterboten haben könnte.

Bolts voraussichtliche Zielzeit von 9,42 Sekunden würde seinen bestehenden Weltrekord brechen, sein Vermächtnis als größter Athlet aller Zeiten festigen und die Vorreiterrolle von PUMA im Bereich der Laufinnovationen unterstreichen.

Als Usain Bolt die Forschungsergebnisse vorgelegt wurden, sagte er: „Das ist wirklich schnell! Ich habe viel auf die Spike-Entwickler*innen gesetzt, und im Laufe der Jahre haben wir Anpassungen vorgenommen und verschiedene Dinge ausprobiert. Ich glaube, wenn ich mich 2012 voll fokussiert hätte, hätte ich mit den damaligen Spikes bereits den Weltrekord (9,58) gebrochen.“

Die Studie, die diese Woche vor den Leichtathletik-Weltmeisterschaften 2025 in Tokio veröffentlicht werden soll, analysierte, wie sich der Forte NITRO™ – der Spike, den die derzeit schnellste Frau der Welt, Julien Alfred, trägt – im Vergleich zu einer Vielzahl von Spikes, darunter auch denen, die Bolt 2009 trug, bewährt hat und wie die branchenführenden Technologien NITROFOAM™ ELITE und PWRPLATE von PUMA die Schubkraft verbessert haben.

Im April 2024 lief Miller mit nur 17 Jahren eine 100-Meter-Bestzeit von 9,93 Sekunden und zeigte sich in Topform. Diese Bestzeit unter 10 Sekunden war ein neuer U18-Weltrekord, ein amerikanischer U20-Rekord und die drittschnellste Zeit, die jemals von einem U20-Athleten gelaufen wurde. Der junge Leichtathletik-Star gehört jetzt zu den wenigen Athlet*innen, die nicht in der NCAA antreten, sondern direkt nach der High School Profi werden. 

In April 2024, Miller continued his electrifying form, running a 100-meter personal best of 9.93 seconds at only 17 years old. His sub-10 second PB was a new Under-18 world record, an American Under-20 record and the third fastest time ever by an Under-20.

September, im legendären Letzigrund-Stadion gegeneinander antreten, bevor am Tag darauf das Meeting der Weltklasse Zürich Diamond League stattfindet. Die Veranstaltung markiert den Höhepunkt eines seit Juli 2023 schwelenden Duells zwischen den beiden Leichtathletik-Ikonen.

Ein kurzer Clip, der im vergangenen Sommer in den sozialen Medien geteilt wurde und in dem die beiden über die Möglichkeit eines Wettlaufs gegeneinander sprachen, ließ Sportfans auf der ganzen Welt vor in große Aufregung versetzen. Nun wird das Duell Wirklichkeit, wenn die beiden Stars über die endgültige Sprintdistanz gegeneinander antreten, um zu sehen, wer wirklich der Schnellste ist.

Warholm ist der amtierende Weltrekordhalter über 400 m Hürden, Olympiasieger, Silbermedaillengewinner und dreifacher Weltmeister, während Duplantis der frischgebackene Doppel-Olympiasieger ist und den Weltrekord im Stabhochsprung bereits neunmal gebrochen hat.

Obwohl die beiden Superstars in unterschiedlichen Disziplinen antreten, liegen ihre persönlichen Bestzeiten über 100 Meter gar nicht so weit auseinander. Warholm erzielte 2017 eine Zeit von 10,49 Sekunden, während Duplantis nur ein Jahr später als High-School-Senior eine Zeit von 10,57 Sekunden lief. Das macht den Wettkampf umso spannender für die Zuschauer, die sich auf eine unglaubliche Nacht der Action freuen können.

Duplantis' Sieg bedeutet, dass Warholm beim morgigen Diamond-League-Meeting von Weltklasse Zürich das Trikot des schwedischen Leichtathletik-Verbandes seines Gegners tragen wird - als Teil einer freundschaftlichen Wette zwischen zwei der größten Weltstars der Leichtathletik.

Nachdem er das Rennen gewonnen hatte, sagte Duplantis: Ich wusste es, ich habe daran geglaubt. Es ist das Einzige, woran ich im Moment wirklich denke. Ich habe daran geglaubt, ich musste alle anderen nur erst davon überzeugen."

Das Ergebnis des Rennens kommentierte Warholm so: „Für mich selbst war es kein tolles Rennen. Aber ich habe alles gegeben, was ich hatte. Mondo war überraschend gut, das muss ich ihm zugestehen. Er war ein echter Kämpfer, er kam schnell aus den Blöcken und ich konnte ihn nie einholen, so ist das eben. Aber es war sehr gut, und ich bin stolz darauf, dass wir so ein Event auf die Beine gestellt haben. Es war großartig.“

Sports company PUMA has signed St.Lucian track star Julien Alfred, who will begin wearing the companies products this week at the Diamond League in Monaco.
The 22-year-old has experienced a meteoric rise through the rankings over the past 18 months, having gone undefeated at 100 metres in the 2022 NCAA season, and picking up a silver medal in the same event at the Commonwealth Games Birmingham 2022.

Her fine form has continued into 2023, with Alfred becoming the first woman in NCAA history to break the seven second barrier at 60 metres, and in doing so securing her spot as the all-time second fastest indoor sprinter at both 60 and 200 metres. The seven-time NCAA Champion capped a remarkable first half to the year by taking gold at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador earlier this month.

“Julien is an incredible athlete, one we believe will continue to make history on the track,” said Pascal Rolling, Head of Sports Marketing at PUMA. “She is the true embodiment of Forever Faster and our ambition to be the fastest brand on the planet – we’re thrilled to have her join the PUMA family.”
