PUMA signs long-term partnership with the football association of Iceland

Sport Bang! It starts with the thump of a bass drum. Who doesn’t remember the epic Viking “thunder clap” post-match celebrations between Iceland’s players and fans during Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup? Now it is time to write the next chapter in this football tale, with PUMA playing an important part in it. We are thrilled to announce a long-term partnership with the Football Association of Iceland (KSI). PUMA is now the proud official technical sponsor for the men’s, women’s and youth teams of the association. With a population of just 330,000, Iceland qualified for the UEFA EURO 2016 Finals and is the smallest national team to qualify for the men’s FIFA World Cup in 2018. Also the women’s team have achieved success by qualifying for three UEFA Women’s European Championships in a row, 2009, 2013 and 2017. Sport We proudly support the statement of our partner, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team against racism by choosing to drive the entire 2020 F1 season in PUMA black race-gear and join forces to fight racism and discrimination in all forms.  PUMA is always eager for the opportunity to support any of our partners and ambassadors in their pursuit of Universal Equality. The black race gear includes the race suit, underwear, balaclava and gloves. The latter shows #REFORM on the right hand which is PUMA´s statement against racism and criminal justice. The race shoe Speedcat Pro of our ambassador Lewis is turned into black with purple logo form stripes while Valtteri Bottas´ black race boots are coming with white logo form stripes. PUMA adds Olympic Champion Omar McLeod to its roster

Sport PUMA signed Jamaican professional hurdler and sprinter Omar McLeod, which he proudly announced on his Instagram channel. The 26-year-old is reigning Olympic Champion in 110m hurdles and the former World Champion. Omar was a promising high school athlete, when he started his professional track and field career in 2015. In the same year, he won the 110 m hurdles at the Jamaican Championships with only 12.97 seconds, setting the national record and being the first athlete to both run this distance in under 13 seconds as well as the 100 meter sprint in under 10 seconds. A year later, the athlete won the World Indoor title, running the 60m hurdles in 7.41 seconds. In the Rio 2016 Olympics, he won Gold in the 110m hurdles, making him the current Olympic Champion.
