PUMA APPOINTS JOHAN ADAMSSON AS DIRECTOR OF SPORTS MARKETING & SPORTS LICENSING

Sports company PUMA has appointed Johan Adamsson (41) as Director of Sports Marketing & Sports Licensing. In his new position, Adamsson, who has been with PUMA for 14 years, will be responsible for managing and extending PUMA’s portfolio of athletes and sports teams on a national and international level. He succeeds Christian Voigt, who has decided to leave the company. Johan Adamsson is based at PUMA’s headquarters in Herzogenaurach.

The Swedish national holds a degree in Social Science from Lund University in Sweden. He has held multiple positions at PUMA, since he joined the company as International Football Marketing Manager in 2001. Between 2006 and 2010, he was responsible for Marketing in PUMA’s Teamsport Business Unit and became Head of Sports Marketing Teamsport in 2010.

PUMA AND FOSSIL GROUP SIGN PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT FOR WATCHES AND WEARABLES

Sports company PUMA and Fossil Group, Inc. have signed a global license partnership agreement for the design, development and distribution of PUMA watches and wearables until 2028.

PUMA and Fossil Group will collaborate to develop an extensive range of PUMA-branded watches and smartwatches, with products planned to be launched in 2019.

Bjørn Gulden, CEO of PUMA says: “Time makes or breaks athletes, which is why the right partner for watches and wearables is particularly critical to our brand. We are pleased to team up with Fossil Group, whose strong focus on innovation will help us make products that fit the needs of our consumers and the world’s fastest athletes.”

The new products will be available, amongst others, through select department stores, specialty retailers and e-commerce channels in Fossil Group’s extensive global network.

PUMA's previous collaboration for PUMA watches with MYWA Swiss Watch & Jewelry ltd ended in December 2016.

PUMA APPOINTS MARTIN BENDA AS GENERAL COUNSEL

Sports company PUMA has appointed Dr. Martin Benda (49) as General Counsel (Global Director Legal Affairs) with immediate effect. In this position, Martin Benda will report directly to PUMA CFO Michael Laemmermann.

After finishing his PhD in industrial law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen, Martin started his professional career as Legal Counsel at Mannesmann Mobilfunk (now Vodafone). In 2001, Martin joined The Coca-Cola Company, where he gathered extensive experience and knowledge in positions as Legal Director GB & Ireland and Senior Legal Counsel Central & Eastern Europe.

The trained lawyer has a comprehensive expertise in competition-, trademark-, marketing-, employment- and property law.

Martin Benda succeeds Jochen Lederhilger, who served in this role since 2006. Lederhilger has decided to leave the company after 20 years to pursue his career as a self-employed lawyer.

PUMA to appoint Maria Valdes as Chief Product Officer and Member of the Board of Management

Sports company PUMA will appoint Maria Valdes (38) as Chief Product Officer and a Member of the Board of Management effective January 1, 2023.

In her new role, Maria, who is currently the General Manager of PUMA’s largest business unit Sportstyle, will be responsible for the business units Sportstyle, Motorsport, Teamsport, Running/Training, Basketball and Accessories. She will also oversee the creative direction of the brand and the go-to-market strategy of the company.

“As General Manager of our Sportstyle business unit, Maria has demonstrated a strong product expertise, a great service attitude towards our retail partners and a deep knowledge of our target consumer”, said Arne Freundt, Chief Executive Officer at PUMA. “I am convinced that her positive energy and relentless pursuit in pushing things forward make her the ideal candidate for this new role.”

Maria has been with PUMA since 2010 and worked as Senior Head of Product Line Management Footwear before becoming General Manager Sportstyle in 2019. Before her time at PUMA, she worked in product development and marketing for both L’Oréal and Inditex.

Starting January 1, 2023, PUMA’s Board of Management will consist of four members, including Arne Freundt (CEO), Hubert Hinterseher (Chief Financial Officer), and Anne-Laure Descours (Chief Sourcing Officer).
