Sport Mon, 18.07.2022 - 10:47 With the World Athletics Championships in Eugen in full swing, PUMA  has added several young track & field athletes to its roster. Supporting the fastest athletes with the fastest products is the main pillar of our philosophy as a sports brand. PUMA has a very strong line-up of track & field ambassadors, including Norwegian hurdler Karsten Warholm and Swedish pole vaulter Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, both world record holders. The following athletes will join the PUMA Family ahead of the event in Eugene: Champion Allison, a 400 m specialist who is part of the University of Florida’s track & field program. He set a personal best of 43.70 to come in second at the US Outdoor Championships in June. His performance was the 10th fastest time ever in the history of the event. Jamaican Charokee Young also ran the best 400 m of her career this year with 49.87, making her the second fastest in the world this season. She is part of Texas A&M’s athletics program. With a personal best of 10.88 in the 100 m event, Jamaican sprinter Kemba Nelson came in second at the Jamaican Championships in June. The World Athletic Championships in Eugene are a home game for her, as she is part of the University of Oregon’s athletics team. US pole vaulter Gabriela Leon won the NCAA outdoor title this year with a height of 4.60 meters. She had even gone one centimeter higher earlier this year to set a PB of 4.61. Sport Fri, 22.07.2022 - 08:28 PUMA Athlete Shericka Jackson won the gold in the women’s 200m event at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, setting the second-fastest time in history. Crossing the finish line in 21.45 seconds, Shericka shattered the Championship Record and Jamaican National Record and came within 0.11 seconds of the World Record, which has stood for 34 years and had been considered by many to be unbeatable. After 100 meters, Shericka was neck and neck with her Jamaican compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and then pulled away after the bend, crossing the finish line well ahead of the rest. “I was not thinking about any time or any records. I know Shelly is probably one of the best curve runners in the world so I knew she was going to go hard,” Shericka told reporters after the event. “I knew that if I wanted to get gold, I had to run the curve as hard as possible. The fastest woman alive, the national and championships record, I cannot complain” she added. For Shericka, the gold in the 200m events comes on top of a silver medal she won earlier in the 100m, a great performance at the World Championships. And he did so with real ease: He jumped 17.95 m on his first attempt, the furthest leap in triple jump this year. Nobody else came close. Pedro had already won the gold in Tokyo in 2021, as well as the European Indoor title. He had so far failed to win gold at the World Championships, however. “I had two silver medals and tried to win gold and achieved it today. This title means a lot,” Pedro Pichardo told reporters after the event. “I am progressively winning all possible titles, from Olympic gold to the world title.” PUMA has a strong history in the triple jump. The world record of 18.29 m was set in 1995 by British athlete Jonathan Edwards, who also wore PUMA spikes. Sport Mon, 25.07.2022 - 08:36 PUMA Athlete Mondo Duplantis sets another world record and won the gold a the World Athletics Championships in Eugene on Sunday, proving once again that there is no other pole vaulter like him. 🐐 At the indoor Championships in Belgrade this year, Mondo hat set the World Record to 6.20 but he went one centimeter higher on Sunday, jumping an incredible 6.21m. It is the fifth time Mondo has broken the world record in his career, and he is only 22 years old. The previous pole vaulter to hold the world record was Sergey Bubka, who set a mark of 6.14, five years before Mondo was even born. Mondo’s gold is the third individual gold medal for PUMA athletes at the World Athletics Championships, following 200m sprinter Shericka Jackson and triple jumper Pedro Pichardo.
