Sports company PUMA has today launched the Influence Pack, a collection featuring four individual football jerseys each inspired by a special city and its football culture. PUMA has partnered with COPA90, nss sports, SEASON zine and SHUKYU magazine to create jerseys crafted from the cultures of London, New York, Naples and Tokyo.

COPA90 is inspired by New York’s soccer culture. A scene that started as a counterculture movement, defying age-old traditions, a product of New York’s history of hustling and change. Just like the city itself, the soccer pitches draw together people from different backgrounds, allowing them to forge their own traditions.

 

In collaboration with COPA90, PUMA has designed a special jersey inspired by the great city of New York. The famous five boroughs are a focal point of the design, along with the iconic bridges that connect them.

 

The black jersey with gold trim features all over graphics of famous places, buildings and soccer pitches located in the city. The crest features a comic version of the iconic Statue of Liberty, while the number five is displayed on the front and the back of the jersey, paying tribute to the five boroughs of New York. Written in gold, the COPA90 logo is displayed across the jersey’s neckline.

PUMA X NSS JERSEY

Born in 2012, nss magazine has become the reference point for street culture, sneakers and fashion communities and enthusiasts all over Europe. nss sports is a branch of nss magazine who are dedicated to football and sportswear culture.

In partnership with nss, PUMA has designed a truly unique jersey influenced by the city of Naples, the birthplace of nss magazine. The jersey also features a special tribute to the city’s brotherhood with Kagoshima, with reference to both cities and their volcanoes: Mount Vesuvius and Mount Sakurajima.

The slick grey jersey features a custom volcano crest, with the nss logo displayed across the front of the jersey in place of the sponsor logo. The all over flame graphic representing the fire from the volcanoes takes inspiration from old Japanese football jerseys. The neckline integrates the names and coordinates of both volcanoes.

PUMA X SEASON ZINE JERSEY

SEASON zine is a London-based trailblazing football and fashion platform founded in 2016 to counter the male, pale and sometimes stale state of modern football culture. Across print issues with original football stickers, events, newsletters, and more, the magazine empowers women and marginalized communities on and far beyond the pitch.

PUMA and SEASON zine have partnered to create a refreshing pastel jersey that reflects the platform’s journey.  If you’re from London or you’ve visited London, you’ve almost certainly travelled by tube. The bespoke all-over graphic pays homage to the well-known retro patterns taken from the seats found on London’s public transport network in powder lilac and white, with a tech twist on the London tube map overlaid on top in vivid mint. A shiny grey ‘SEASON’ logo is displayed in place of the sponsor logo and on the neckline, you can find ‘FASHION FOOTBALL est.2016’ spelling out the platform’s beginning.

PUMA X SHUKYU JERSEY

SHUKYU is a football culture magazine based in Tokyo. The magazine focuses on players, clubs, supporters, fashion, art and the culture that exists beyond the beautiful game.

The striking green jersey draws inspiration from the city of Tokyo and the traditional Japanese event ‘Kemari’, a form of historical football. The Kemari festival takes place each year and is a platform for players to show their talents.

For this special jersey the cherry blossom motif has been used in an all over graphic inspired by the design of typical ‘Kimono’ costumes. The jersey also features a custom crest in homage to traditional Japanese patterns and fabrics. The magazine title is displayed in bold across the front of the jersey and the layout of the magazine’s front cover is displayed on the back of the jersey featuring the number 11.

Global sports company PUMA has announced the launch of J. Cole’s second signature basketball sneaker, the DREAMER 2. The new silhouette is the latest addition to the DREAMER franchise, which successfully debuted with the original RS-Dreamer last year.

The DREAMER 2 “January 28” is named after J. Cole’s classic song from his popular album “2014 Forrest Hills Drive,” which shares his birthday and the launch date for DREAMER 2.

This announcement comes as music fans impatiently await “The Off-Season” and other imminent music releases from Cole in 2021.The inspiration behind DREAMER 2 is that athletes and dreamers can achieve their highest potential and desires, from the kid fighting to make their team with hopes to be the next rising star, to the aging veteran who’s told their time has passed. PUMA REWRITES THE RULES & REINTERPRETS ICONIC CLUB IDENTITY WITH BOLD NEW THIRD KITS

Global sports company PUMA has today unveiled 10 progressive and refreshing new kit designs for 10 of their top European clubs in a special digital launch event ‘The Show’ streamed on PUMA’s YouTube channel at 19:00pm (CEST) on the 18th of August.

 

To launch the bold new re-interpretations of the clubs’ Third kits, PUMA presented ‘The Show’ hosted by renowned football journalist Kelly Somers. ‘The Show’ gave fans an exclusive first look at AC Milan, Manchester City, Valencia C.F, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Olympique de Marseille, Stade Rennais F.C., Shakhtar Donetsk, Fenerbahçe, Krasnodar and PSV Eindhoven’s new jerseys to be worn in their 2021/22 cup competitions. ‘The Show’, also featured special appearances from the clubs’ star players including Olivier Giroud, Fernandinho, Dimitri Payet, Esme Morgan, Laura Giuliani, Yunus Musah, and many more.

Fans had the opportunity to win each jersey interactively throughout the show and Kelly was joined by Senior Product Line Manager Yannick Maspimby and Senior Graphic Designer Ulrich Planer to give insight into the inspiration behind the jerseys, rounding out an action-packed show.

As part of the brand’s Faster Football movement, PUMA aims to push boundaries, innovate, and bring new fresh products to football. The new Third kits create fearless new expressions of each club’s identity and challenge tradition by reimagining conventional football kits in a brand-new approach that merges football and streetwear culture.

On each jersey the club’s badge has been repositioned and placed on the back of the jersey beneath the collar. Select jerseys complement this with an innovative use of the club’s crest as a tonal repeat graphic embossed into the fabric of the jerseys. The most eye-catching feature of the jerseys is the placement at the heart, of the club’s name emblazed across the front of the jersey in each clubs’ bespoke font, with the PUMA cat centrally positioned to add balance to the visionary design.

Driven by PUMA’s brand DNA to be brave, the new designs defy convention, taking inspiration from other sports and key streetwear and fashion trends.

“Our aim was to challenge traditional football jersey design. We wanted to look at the kits through a new lens and push the boundaries as far as possible. It is easy to play safe, but we want to change perceptions of a conventional football jersey”, said Carl Tuffley, Senior Head of Design Manager Teamsport. “The Third kits are an opportunity to be bold, so we wanted to reenergize these jerseys and take a new direction. The new Third jerseys combine 100% recycled polyester with advanced PUMA dryCELL thermoregulation technology to ensure uncompromising fit and mobility, keeping athletes dry and comfortable. Sports company PUMA has today unveiled the new PSV Eindhoven Third Kit to be worn by the men’s, women’s, youth teams and Esports teams in their respective competitions for the 2020/21 season. The Third Kit was launched at sundown in “The City of Light”, as a tribute to Eindhoven’s GLOW art festival.

Eindhoven is recognized around the world as ‘The City of Light’, a city vibrant with culture, collaboration and global influence. In 1891, Eindhoven’s very own Philips opened their first light bulb factory and soon became the biggest light bulb supplier in the world. The annual GLOW festival celebrates the latest innovations in the art world as artists and designers from all over the world present their light structures before projecting their art onto buildings all over the city, turning Eindhoven into ‘The City of Light’.

PUMA X BLACK FIVES LAUNCH NEW VINTAGE-INSPIRED COLLECTION RELEASING OCTOBER 8

Global sports company PUMA will be launching their second PUMA x Black Fives collection in its ongoing partnership with the Black Fives Foundation, whose mission is to research, preserve, showcase, teach and honor the pre-NBA history of African Americans in basketball.

The new collection celebrates the way teams in the Black Fives Era expanded their reach beyond neighborhoods where they began, into cities and towns throughout the United States. On the courts of these big cities and remote towns alike, they played an instrumental role in popularizing the game while providing essential cultural inspiration to Black communities across America. The collection is a reminder of their pioneering efforts, which paved the way for the success and appeal of the modern game today.

This seven-piece collection encompasses vintage-inspired designs with historical graphics and authentic logos maintained by the Foundation. Banner graphics showcase Black Fives teams along with cities they played in across the U.S. from Los Angeles to New York.

Items in the collection include multi-colored hoodie and sweatpants, shorts, T-shirt, long-sleeved T-shirt, cardigan, and a black Suede Mid Black Fives, which includes a pop of color on the sole and team logos on the formstrip.

PUMA DEBUTS J. COLE'S FIRST SIGNATURE BASKETBALL SNEAKER – THE RS-DREAMER

Global sports company PUMA has announced the launch of J. Cole’s first signature basketball sneaker, the RS-Dreamer. The shoe sports a DREAMER logo, about which Cole explains, “When said out loud, all the best dreams sound crazy. Dreamer was created with the belief that, still, we must follow ours, no matter how unachievable they may seem to others.” Cole was intimately involved in the new franchise -- from inspiration to design.

Earlier this year, PUMA and Cole announced their official partnership with a TV spot that aired during All Star Weekend. The theme of that spot, which inspired Cole’s new signature product line, is about never abandoning one’s dream, despite the obstacles faced or time passed. The RS-Dreamer will be worn on the court by PUMA Hoops athletes and has already been spotted on several NBA and WNBA athletes as they ramp up for their respective returns to play this summer.

This first signature basketball sneaker is intended to be worn both on and off the court – equipped with the latest technology while having a fashion-forward and disruptive design.

“Over the years, basketball shoes have progressed greatly in their level of technology and comfort but have strayed too far away from designs stylish enough for cultural relevancy,” Cole explains. “The Dreamer hopes to change that reality. The highest level of on-court performance meets the highest level of aesthetic design for daily wear. Once again, you can hoop in the same shoes you wore outside.”

The RS-Dreamer is a new silhouette that leverages the brand’s running system “RS foam” and innovative RS technology for superior on-court mobility. Other RS-Dreamer benefits include enhanced durability and traction, a disruptive cord lacing system and PUMA’s signature ProFoam in the midsole for rebound and energy return.

Retailing for $125, the RS-Dreamer will be available exclusively in store and online at the Foot Looker Inc. IS ANYONE LISTENING? TOP PUMA AMBASSADORS DISCUSS RACISM IN ONLINE VIDEO

Sports company PUMA has brought together three of its best-known ambassadors, Formula 1 Champion Lewis Hamilton, Olympian Tommie Smith and football legend Thierry Henry, to have an honest conversation about racism. 
 

More than 50 years ago, when Tommie Smith raised his fist on the podium of the 1968 Olympic Games, he risked everything to stand up for universal equality. At a time when racism and police brutality against minorities once again dominate the headlines, the panel of PUMA athletes talk about their experiences with racism, activism and their hopes for the future.


The topic of the talk is “Is Anyone Listening?”, a quote by Tommie Smith in which he expressed his disbelief that so many years after his silent protest on the Olympic podium, racism was still an issue around the world. 
“At some point, people didn’t see my color anymore because I was playing football,” Thierry Henry explains during the discussion. “When I went somewhere where people didn’t recognize me, my color came back.” Six-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton also talks about his experience as the only black driver in the predominantly white world of Formula 1, while Tommie Smith outlines his vision for an inclusive future.

“We knew it was imperative to highlight the stories of our athletes and ambassadors and bring them together to exchange personal stories, ideas for change, and educate the wider community,” said Adam Petrick, Global Director of Brand and Marketing.  “We’re thrilled to give some of our most accomplished athletes a platform to discuss the impact they have made as activists in their respective sport.”  

 

Through its #REFORM platform, PUMA is giving its brand ambassadors the chance to talk about causes and to encourage conversations around issues such as universal equality.
