PUMA Ambassador and German ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl shares his motivation and goals in PUMA’s “Only See Great” campaign

German ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl spoke about his motivation to keep performing at the highest level in a video interview with sports company PUMA, ahead of the new NHL season.

After winning the pre-game with his team, Leon Draisaitl, who was named most valuable player in 2020, is more than ready to rock the upcoming season starting with the first game October 13th.

“Individual awards are always great. You know, they show you that your hard work has paid off. But I’m in a team sport, right? So, winning the ultimate trophy as a team is more important at the end of the day.”

With the ‘Only See Great’ campaign, PUMA explores the career path of its brand ambassadors, as they talk about their own paths to greatness, listening to their hearts, and finding a vision that no one else can see.

 

After reaching the semi-finals with his team last season, Leon is now aiming for the finals: “I hope that we can take the next step next season. It was a great run, obviously, when you get to that point you want to win. But we did run into a team that was better than us. But hopefully next season we’re going to be that team.”

Despite a serious injury, Draisaitl fought through the last games of the season. He had to change his mindset, but his motivation is stronger than ever, he said: “Greatness is consistency. So, I’m preparing for next season like I do for any other season and to me it’s important to do it all over again. You know, show people that I’m capable of being at the top of my game every single year every night”, Leon says.

The idea for PUMA’s “Only See Great” campaign was inspired by cultural icon, entrepreneur and philanthropist Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter who first said: “I only see great. I don’t see good. I don’t see compromise. We should always strive to make something great, something that will last.”

PUMA x MCM DROP 2 “SHOW UP” IS COMING

Luxury fashion house MCM and sports brand PUMA confirm the arrival of their second drop, featuring all-new footwear in the form of the PUMA Slipstream Lo.

This means PUMA and MCM will be bringing the ball both on and off the court – with a release in three dramatic drops. The first, released September 8, was Show Love, featuring a one-of-a-kind MCM edition of the PUMA Slipstream Lo. October 6 sees the second drop, Show Up, with its own version of the renowned PUMA basketball shoe: the Slipstream Lo Retro sneakers come emblazoned with black and white details and are embellished with MCM’s striking Cubic Monogram print for a full visual box out.

First released in 1987, the Slipstream series has made its way through crucial moments of sneaker history, with this most recent incarnation being showcased by Mikey Williams, a strong and compact guard and offensive-minded player who knows a thing or two about basketball.

With the drop of its latest Fandom Collection, PUMA celebrates the vibrant fan culture of Accra, Ghana and showcases what football means to a new generation of fans everywhere.

To truly honor the inspiration for this collection – the fans themselves – PUMA accompanied Ghanaian football star Mohammed Kudus to his hometown of Accra, Ghana to shoot the Fandom campaign on location.

Championed and led by an internal collective of Black designers, the name, “We Are Legends”, reminds us to celebrate the now in Black culture and not just the rich history of past.

The We Are Legends mission is to both increase representation within the design industry and drive real change within the very communities we are celebrating. The collective established a 3-pillar model to ensure this initiative is making a tangible impact over time through donation, awareness, and community. NEYMAR JR. AND PUMA’S NEW COLLABORATION IS AN ODE TO BRAZILIAN STYLE

Born just outside São Paulo, Brazil, the inimitable Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior has quickly ascended to the heights of the world’s most popular sport, and in doing so, he has captured the attention of football fans around the globe. Ahead of the World Cup, Neymar Jr. and present an all-new collaborative collection that celebrates the ‘belo jogo’.

The tropical collection is an ode to Brazil, the nation, and the culture that shaped Neymar Jr. Running through the collection, a unique graphic language finds inspiration in Brazilian football, São Paulo street art, and several of Neymar Jr.’s most cherished tattoos.

The collection’s main insignia, vibrantly embroidered birds are an homage to a tattoo found on the left side of Neymar Jr.’s neck depicting three small birds with the phrase “Tudo Passa.” The expression translates to “Everything Passes,” a sentiment that reminds the Brazilian superstar to enjoy the moments of celebration and to bear the ways that life tests us. Sports company PUMA shows how recycled materials can create a unique look with RE:COLLECTION, a line of products for Sportstyle, Running & Training and Motorsport which are made with recycled cotton and polyester.

Depending on the style, the pieces of RE:COLLECTION contain between 20% and 100% recycled materials, creating a look of perfect imperfection in neutral colors. Cutting waste is used to reinforce the uppers of RE:COLLECTION’s lifestyle footwear.

In the Autumn/Winter season, RE:COLLECTION includes performance products for Running and Training such as the PWRFrame TR, a high-performance Training shoe that is engineered for forefoot support and features at least 30% recycled material in the upper. Among other Training products of RE:COLLECTION, the tights are made with at least 70% recycled material but retain the performance characteristics such as the moisture-wicking properties of PUMA’s dryCELL technology.

 

As part of its Forever Better sustainability strategy, PUMA has set itself ambitious targets when it comes to using materials from more sustainable sources and increasing the amount of recycled content in its products. By 2025, 75% of the polyester used in PUMA’s Apparel and Accessories will come from recycled sources.

On September 13th, PUMA presented FUTROGRADE, an immersive runway show during New York Fashion Week that showcased the past, present and future of the brand. PUMA has launched a parallel metaverse fashion show experience, called Black Station, that included exclusive NFTs with limited edition redeemable physical sneakers.

The digital show experience will be available at Blackstation.puma.com. PUMA’s Black Station has been imagined as an immersive and interactive place to experience the future of the brand. As a blank and ever-evolving 3D canvas, Black Station is a dynamic destination to visit, connecting consumers with various web3 activations emerging over the course of the next year and beyond.

FUTROGRADE, the physical show, showcased a selection of looks – from both current and upcoming seasons, as well as custom pieces – curated by PUMA Designer and Creative Director, June Ambrose. On the doorstep of its 75th anniversary, this show highlighted PUMA’s Forever Faster spirit – fusing history and heritage with innovation in design and sport performance.

PUMA AND PALOMO SPAIN PARTNER TO CELEBRATE SELF EXPRESSION AND GENDER FLUIDITY WITH AN EXCLUSIVE COLLABORATION

PUMA and Palomo Spain have joined forces to create a collection exploring team sports with a retro edge, while also championing today’s bold take on gender fluidity.

The PUMA x Palomo Spain collection is inspired by 1970’s football stars and their glamorous off-field lives, linking the flamboyant and extravagant approach of that decade’s fashion to Palomo’s signature couture-infused, romantic, gender-neutral designs. 

“My goal with this collaboration was to bring our over-the-top vibes over to PUMA, while stepping out of my comfort zone by designing sports clothes. That’s what led me to subtly reference Johan Cruyff, the ultimate 70’s football icon who is also the perfect embodiment of the Palomo Spain aesthetic in sport”, says Alejandro Gómez Palomo, Founder and Creative Director of Palomo Spain. “It was wonderful to partner with a company that has the means and engineering necessary to work on things in a way I can’t in my studio and my atelier, as that allowed us to approach the collection in a much more technical way than usual”, he adds.

“The crossover between craftsmanship and technology is an interesting one, as it’s not obvious at all; yet a highly technical production process was necessary to create the intricate embroideries and detailing that are Palomo’s trademark on the PUMA scale. Those delicate graphic elements elevate the collection and bring the right balance to a classic, clean silhouette”, says Heiko Desens, Global Creative Director for PUMA.

With precise lines and timeless, comforting colours ranging from beige, white and pale blue to navy blue, burgundy and vivid yellow, the gender neutral collection - which spans 15 styles - is rich in classic team sports references. Highlights include a bell bottom T7 tracksuit in cotton and polyester, complete with piping embroidered with the sinuous PUMA x Palomo Spain logo. A football-inspired half-zipped polo blends embroidery and jacquard, T7 nylon shorts match with classic tees and terry tank tops, and a nylon coat and printed long sleeve jersey top complete the ready-to-wear offering.

PUMA Launches SEASONS, an Elevated Outdoor Collection

Global sports brand PUMA will launch a new outdoor footwear and apparel collection called SEASONS, a line of elevated performance pieces made with technical materials and innovative, stay-dry features.

The SEASONS collection is rooted in trail running and versatile for outdoor activities. It was created to protect against the elements by using functional, performance materials like GORE-TEX in its multi-terrain trail footwear, and Sympatex—a three-layer waterproof, windproof, and breathable fabric made from 100% recycled material—in the Stormcell Jacket. The SEASONS collection is ready to tackle off-road terrain and various weather conditions.

“As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the closure of gyms and studios, we saw more and more people looking to the outdoors for fitness, health, and wellness,” said Erin Longin, General Manager, PUMA Run Train. “We knew this would be a lasting behavior and people were looking for gear that would perform in the outdoor environment, which is why we created SEASONS as an extension of our RUN PUMA performance collection.”

The apparel collection uses cell technologies—stormCELL, rainCELL, dryCELL, and warmCELL—to protect against the elements. Key products in the launch collection feature a waterproof Stormcell Jacket, Raincell Jacket / Pant, and Down Jacket for the autumn, winter season. The collection also features new additions to PUMA’s trail running footwear offering with a new, lightweight trail shoe in FAST-TRAC NITRO GTX and an updated Voyage NITRO 2 GTX.

Global sports company PUMA has today unveiled their 2022 national team Away kits. The bold new design language reinterprets national motifs from football, culture, and nature, bringing them together in ways that turn each jersey into a statement piece for the nation and the national team.

The new jerseys arrive in two iterations. The Authentic jersey features ULTRAWEAVE performance fabric and dryCELL sweat-wicking technology, making the jersey the lightest and most comfortable PUMA has ever made. When the game is on the line, they are engineered to make every second count. The Replica jersey is made with 100% recycled polyester and equipped with dryCELL sweat-wicking technology to keep you dry and comfortable throughout the 90 minutes and beyond – no matter the time, pitch, or place. From generation to generation. The 2022 Czech Republic Away jersey in white, red and blue takes inspiration from the team’s emblem to celebrate the nation’s storied footballing heritage.

Football and folklore are one and the same in the Iceland Away jersey. The graphic at the center pays homage to the four protectors of Iceland: the dragon, the bull, the griffin, and the giant, as seen on the national coat of arms and the national team emblem.

The Eagles have landed. The white 2022 Serbia Away jersey features gold accents and bespoke front panel graphics to celebrate Serbia’s footballing heritage. Central to the crest is a stylized reference to the coat of arms found at the Prince Mihailo Monument in Belgrade. Established in 1882, at the founding of the kingdom of Serbia, the coat of arms is incorporated into the crest to unite the team and the fans.

Stand for Suisse. The off-white Switzerland Away jersey is lit up by red graphics and accents that pay tribute to the national flag, federation emblem, and everything they stand for.

Bold meets proud in the new Ghana Away jersey. The block graphic at the center reinterprets the national flag through the visual language of traditional Ghanaian textile patterns. The “Ghana” lettering, federation emblem, and the Black Star of Ghana complete the statement.

Football meets culture in the 2022 Egypt Away jersey. The central graphic represents the three pyramids of Giza in the style of ancient Egyptian ornaments and features a centrally aligned federation emblem to complete the look.

Details make all the difference in this 2022 Morocco Away jersey. The team emblem at the center is complemented by tonal graphics that pull from traditional Moroccan mosaics.

Fast meets ferocious in the new Senegal Away kit. The national flag, federation emblem, and “Les Lions” lettering take center stage, complemented by an abstract graphic of a lion’s mouth to celebrate the bravery and intensity shown by the Lions of Teranga, Africa’s reigning champions.

The nation and the national team are one in the Côte d'Ivoire Away jersey. Bold graphics at the center combine the national flag, federation emblem, and the team nickname “Les Éléphants,” paying tribute to Côte d'Ivoire’s national animal.
