PUMA TEAMS UP WITH SARA BJÖRK GUNNARSDÓTTIR TO GIVE UNPRECEDENTED ACCESS TO SARA’S JOURNEY FROM PREGNANCY BACK TO ELITE LEVEL SPORT

PUMA has teamed up with PUMA athlete, Olympique Lyonnais football star and Iceland national team captain Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir to launch authentic content chartering Sara’s pregnancy journey through to her return to elite level sport. As part of PUMA’s ‘She Moves Us’ platform the various content streams will culminate with the release of a special documentary early next year following Sara’s story.

Before and after Sara gives birth, PUMA social channels will chronical Sara’s life during and after her pregnancy, her training regimes and offer a glimpse into her life as a mother as she balances family life with her professional career. The content and documentary will offer unprecedented, never-before-seen access into the life of a professional female athlete as she faces the challenge of returning to elite level sport after giving birth. Sara will give insight into her journey, training schedules whilst pregnant, advice and expert guidance from professionals on her body changes through the process and her recovery post-pregnancy.

Many female athletes encounter challenges and uncertainty over their careers when faced with the prospect of pregnancy. Female athletes are faced with difficult decisions with many having to retire early to start a family due to lack of support, eligibility to play and maternity pay. “Starting a family when playing a professional sport is difficult. I really want to prove that you can come back from pregnancy and play at the top level,” said Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir. “I hope to inspire women to do so and to show that there is the option of not choosing between having your family or your professional career.”

“Female athletes face many challenges in their careers and pregnancy can be one of them,” said Matthias Baeumer, General Manager BU Teamsport. “When Sara came to us with the news of her pregnancy, we wanted to support her in any way possible. Sara decided this would be a great opportunity to give insight into her journey and show female athletes that you can be a top athlete and still have a family. We are thrilled that Sara has asked us to be involved in the process and that she is sharing her experiences as she hopes to inspire female athletes around the world.”

PUMA AND MANCHESTER CITY CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH PRE-MATCH KIT INSPIRED BY EMMELINE PANKHURST

Global sports company PUMA and Manchester City have today announced the launch of a pre-match kit range to celebrate girls and womenfootball players in Manchester.

The striking new design is inspired by Mancunian Emmeline Pankhurst and sees PUMA join forces with the club’s charity, ‘City in the Community’, to accelerate access to football for girls across Greater Manchester.

City’s men’s team will wear the kit during their warmup and walkout at this weekend’s Premier League match against Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 4th March and Manchester City women will play in the kit for the FA Women’s Super League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 5th March at the Academy Stadium.

A recent study revealed 80% of girls feel they do not belong in sport and only 14% of girls aged 5-16 achieve recommended levels of physical activity. To help address these issues, PUMA will sponsor City in the Community’s City Girls project and help enable the charity to provide free weekly football sessions for 250 girls across Manchester for the next 12 months.

To further support the project, the City Girls program will also expand for the first time to Moss Side, the birthplace of Emmeline Pankhurst, and include a special week of education on the Suffragette movement.

For the sixth consecutive year, Manchester City will be running the ‘Same City Same Passion’ campaign that will inspire young girls across the world to play football. PUMA will provide the girls with footballs and since 2018, PUMA and Manchester City have provided over 6000 footballs worldwide for girls. This year the PUMA footballs will feature a limited-edition Pankhurst-inspired design of the pre-match range.

“The new Manchester City pre-match collection is a great opportunity for PUMA to continue our support for women’s football and to celebrate inspirational women, past and present,” said Marco Mueller, PUMA Senior Head of Product Line Management Apparel Licensed. “The collection is inspired by Manchester’s own Emmeline Pankhurst and is the perfect project for PUMA to partner with the charity ‘City in the Community’ to provide equipment and free football sessions for girls in the community.”

The Manchester City pre-match collection is available from March 3 rd at PUMA stores, PUMA .com, the City store at the Etihad Stadium Store, mancity.com/shop and at select retailers worldwide.

Today’s global pop superstar Dua Lipa has joined the PUMA family and will be the newest face of the company’s women’s business. Dua will collaborate with the global sports brand to help inspire women around the world, not just by being featured in global campaigns, but through important inclusive initiatives close to her heart.

“I am so excited to announce my partnership with PUMA,” said Dua Lipa. “From performance rehearsals to hiking in the hills, it's important to feel comfortable & look good. I’ve got so many ideas for the projects and campaigns I’ll be taking part in and look forward to bringing them all to life with my PUMA family.”

Dua Lipa and PUMA share the same values of being determined, confident, joyful, and brave. Dua is not only a powerful influence for millions of young women, but she has also been an advocate to raise awareness around women’s issues and gender equality. This is why in 2021 she will be the headliner of PUMA’s “She Moves Us” campaign, focusing on inspiring women who move together to achieve and connect through sport and culture.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dua to our family”, said Adam Petrick, PUMA’s Global Director of Brand and Marketing. “We were drawn towards her creativity, passion, and drive and the way in which she resonates with the young female consumer. But most importantly, we were moved by her authentic passion to close the gender gap and look forward to supporting her through several brand initiatives we have planned together. We think she embodies what today’s consumer is looking for in a role model.”

Dua Lipa has been built an extraordinary career in a very short time. She released Future Nostalgia, her #1 UK sophomore album, this year to worldwide acclaim. Upon release, Future Nostalgia was the most streamed album in a day by a British female artist globally in Spotify history and has over 4.5 billion streams to date. Dua is the biggest female artist in the world on Spotify and is currently the third biggest artist overall with nearly 60 million monthly listeners. The album’s certified platinum lead single “Don’t Start Now” is a worldwide hit with one billion streams on Spotify, and a #2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, a career high for the pop star. Dua followed the success of “Don’t Start Now” by releasing smash UK single “Physical,” and her US Top 40 #1 “Break My Heart.” Future Nostalgia is the follow up to Dua’s eponymous 2017 debut, which is certified platinum and spawned 6 platinum tracks. She made BRIT Award history in 2018 by becoming the first female artist to pick up five nominations, with two wins for British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist and received two Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording in early 2019.

PUMA kicks off their multi-year partnership with Dua Lipa as presenting sponsors of her fun-filled “Studio 2054” virtual performance where both she and her dancers will wear PUMA. As a surprise to her fans, PUMA is offering a limited batch of discounted tickets for the performance. To access these tickets, click here.

PUMA AND KOCHÉ DEBUT A COUTURE INSPIRED COLLABORATION CELEBRATING WOMEN IN SPORTS THROUGH A PERFORMANCE ORIENTED CAPSULE COLLECTION

Coming together for the first time this season, PUMA and Paris-based label KOCHÉ are celebrating women at the intersection of fashion and fitness with a collection that offers fresh take on empowered activewear and blurs the lines between performance and lifestyle.

Established by Central Saint Martins graduate Christelle Kocher in 2015, KOCHÉ has quickly become a mainstay in the fashion landscape. The brand is notorious for its unique DNA, based on traditional French know-how and craft, all of it updated through a distinctly modern take on fashion that fosters gender, body shape, social and geographical diversity.

For this collaboration, Christelle Kocher is leading the way, applying her couture knowledge to an activewear-oriented collection. “I am a fashion designer, but I am also a physically active woman. I started doing team sports at 8, competing in handball quite seriously until I was 18”, she says. “Ever since, barely a day passes without me doing some form of physical exercise. I run, box and do yoga. So working with PUMA on this project gave me a unique, challenging opportunity to bring together my fashion expertise and the kind of technical elements necessary to good performance wear.”

Daring and versatile, the collection’s design is inspired by timeless staples of feminine fashion, rendered exceptionally comfortable, lightweight and movement-friendly. Spanning 15 different styles, it focuses on body-shaping silhouettes made in recycled performance fabrics including polyester and polyamide, as well as organic cotton. A neo-futuristic palette combines sophisticated shades of black, burgundy, royal blue and cream with colour-shifting reflective treatments.

Elevated sports basics get a couture twist through construction and details: trousers and windbreaker jackets are completed with criss-crossed lacing elements. Tops mimic corsets through strategically placed stitching. Long-sleeve tulle tees bring a sense of delicateness to the silhouette. And leggings are decorated with an embossed lace-inspired motif. Accessories - including a spacious draped gym bag, a running waist bag and two different, classic-cut running shoes - complete the look.

“With the PUMA family, we designed these clothes both to help improve performance in exercise and to use as elevated basics mixed with ready-to-wear pieces”, says Christelle Kocher. “Ultimately, though, the collection’s goal is to support women in reclaiming their rightful place in the sports space, and to help motivate them stay active at a time when women are standing out as the movers and shakers in the active industries worldwide.”

The PUMA x KOCHÉ collection will be available in January 2023 at PUMA.com, KOCHE.com, PUMA stores and selected retailers worldwide.

PUMA LAUNCHES THE BRILLIANCE PACK FEATURING WOMEN SPECIFIC FITS FOR THE FUTURE, ULTRA, AND KING

Global sports company PUMA has today launched the Brilliance Pack, featuring women specific fits for the FUTURE, ULTRA and KING in fresh new colorways. A brilliant fit for brilliant ballers - PUMA is celebrating the brilliance of the women’s game whilst looking ahead to the next generation of young female players.

To mark the launch of the Brilliance Pack PUMA is bringing together professional players and grassroot programs, to inspire young girls to play football. Two key activations have already been held in Germany and France with many more to come:

Together with VfL Wolfsburg and German international Lena Lattwein, PUMA collaborated with Golden Goal on March 13th to host a special football day for over 200 children. Golden Goal is a grassroot organization in Germany who support girls from migration backgrounds to help them integrate into Germany, through football. With that purpose PUMA, Lena Lattwein and Golden Goal created a unique football experience for the girls to inspire them and give them a platform to play the beautiful game.

PUMA partnered with PSG and French international Laurina Fazer on March 15th to surprise Laurina’s first football club with a special training session in Paris. Laurina talked to the girls about her journey, tips for becoming a football player and helped take them through various football specific drills with the hope of inspiring a new generation of female football players.

PUMA also hosted activations with Sherida Spitse (Netherlands and Ajax) in Amsterdam, Maya Le Tissier (Manchester United) in Manchester and at the end of March Madelen Janogy (Hammerby IF and Sweden), Jonna Andersson (Hammerby IF and Sweden), Adelina Engman (Hammerby IF and Finland) and Maika Hamano (Hammerby IF and Japan) will be hosting an event Stockholm.

The aim of the activations is to get girls playing football and bring them together with female role models who inspire them. The Brilliance Pack also provides female players with the right fit and technology to support they're on pitch needs to perform at their best.

“PUMA first introduced a women’s specific fit over two years ago and we have continued to refine and roll out this offering across all of our silos”, said Stephanie Vieira, Product Line Manager Teamsport Footwear, PUMA. “We feel it is important to support our female athletes with the best equipment with a fit that is tailored to the anatomical shape of a women’s foot.”

The FUTURE women’s combines the latest FUTURE technology with measurements engineered specifically for a women’s foot - such as volume and instep height, resulting in a comfortable fit that will drive opponents crazy just like Julia Grosso throughout the 90 minutes, match after match.

The FUTURE features an adaptive FUZIONFIT360 upper that combines a dual mesh, stretchy knit with the eye catching, PUMA exclusive PWRTAPE to lock down the foot for the ultimate fit. The FUTURE also integrates a dual-density Dynamic Motion System outsole to enhance stability, agility and traction.

The ULTRA women’s was the first PUMA silo to offer the women’s specific fit and has continued to evolve by putting women first, specifically curated to match the anatomical shape of a woman's foot combined with state-of-the-art ULTRA technology. Designed with minimal weight in mind for maximum speed and a high-performance, the ultra-lightweight ULTRAWEAVE upper allows players to channel their inner Fridolina Rolfö when flying down the wings, with an edge that can be the difference between winning or losing.

With the return to the pitch of the KING of football boots, PUMA has introduced a women specific KING. Built to be the King of Control, the non-animal-based K-BETTER™ upper material takes the signature KING touch, comfort and durability to the next-level, whilst maximum maneuverability is achieved through a lightweight outsole with external heel counter, integrated stability spine and conical studs - to be worn by midfield maestro Ingrid Engen.

“Women’s football has always been a priority for PUMA and the Brilliance Pack continues this commitment”, said Dominique Gathier, Senior Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Footwear, PUMA. “It is important for us to support the women's game and hosting global activations with our PUMA talent is a great way to help support girls that want to play football.”

As a step toward a better future, all three boot uppers are made with at least 20% recycled materials.

Celebrate the Brilliance of women's football with The Brilliance Pack, available from March 21st at PUMA.com, PUMA stores and select retailers worldwide.

SHE MOVES WITH EMPOWERED STYLE: PUMA X LIBERTY

Global sports brand PUMA and iconic design house and department store Liberty are partnering together for a sophomore collection, blurring the lines between casual sportswear and fashion. The collection features bold and exciting pieces designed for those who want to embody empowerment and independence through their style.

As a part of PUMA’s She Moves Us platform, featuring real, strong, and empowered women, this collection is inspired by the teambuilding and uplifting that is often intrinsically present in women-led collectives and initiatives. The support and encouragement with which women help each other fulfill their individual potential is at the center of this collection and campaign.

The creative was shot on a farm filled with greenery and wildlife, showcasing a group gathering to celebrate and empower each other. They came together in the British countryside to reflect and share their individual stories, providing their thoughts on empowerment, liberty, and what motivates them. Here’s a look at what they said:

“What empowers me is to see people living their true authentic self...Liberty is the autonomy and strength to walk your own path...Waking up, looking in the mirror, and being like, ‘I got this today.’”

The full conversations with Deba, Ami Evelyn Hughes, Taya Francis, and Bones Tan Jones can be read in the accompanying Q+A and heard in the campaign video.

The PUMA x Liberty collection takes the camouflage print, usually used to ‘hide and conceal’, and transforms it into a camo-inspired floral print on a line of striking statement pieces made to stand out. The two unique floral prints cover traditional silhouettes including long raincoats, pleated skirts, wide-leg pants, sweatpants, t-shirts, and crewnecks. In a mix of beige, green, and yellow, both prints are perfect for spring styling. The apparel is accompanied by a range of PUMA sneakers and accessories in classic Liberty florals including the Mayze and Suede Mayu Slip on as well as accessories like bucket hats and bags. The collection makes a graphic, bold and feminine fashion statement for all bodies and sizes.

Get your floral fit when the PUMA x LIBERTY collection drops on PUMA.com, PUMA stores and select retailers including the iconic Liberty store on London’s Regent Street, on March 5th.

PUMA AND DUA LIPA’S UNISEX FLUTUR DROP 2 COLLECTION IS AN ODE TO OLD-SCHOOL RAVE

PUMA and global pop superstar Dua Lipa present the second installation of their ongoing Flutur collaboration.

Flutur’s unabashed aesthetic invites bright colors and form-fitting looks, inspired by old-school rave culture. The collection is filled with vivid shades, holographic details, and retro silhouettes. Active influences are mixed throughout as well, shown through striped jerseys, throwback sportswear silhouettes, and tracksuit-inspired cuts. Hues of pink, purple, and orange define the collection’s color palette, which includes apparel, footwear, and accessories, while Dua Lipa herself introduces a new pink hairstyle to match the color scheme of the collection.

At the front and center of the collection, Dua Lipa’s butterfly lettermark is inspired by vintage rave flyers and represents transition and new beginnings, a theme that became central to the London-born musician’s life as she went through a creative metamorphosis of her own. Dua Lipa’s butterfly graphic shares placement with PUMA’s fast cat insignia in much of the collection.

“The butterfly represents transition, metamorphosis, and new beginnings. I felt like in the beginning, when I first started working on drop one, the butterfly already had a lot of meaning for me. Now, going into the second drop, that meaning has just solidified itself and become even more important in my life. It feels like everything progressed and manifested itself in that way.” - Dua Lipa

Flutur Drop2 spans over 30 items, with highlights including the flared T7 tracksuit, and the unique CELL Dome King, created exclusively by Lipa. The unisex collection is also offered up in a range of inclusive sizing. A series of bright tracksuits were conceived based on Lipa’s vision of a nostalgic, rave-ready tracksuit that is both comfortable and wearable. The full footwear offerings include models like the CELL Dome King, and three variations on the Mayze silhouette including the Mayze, Mayze Boot, and Mayze Metallic. Dua Lipa worked closely alongside longtime PUMA collaborator, designer, and songwriter Billy Walsh, who helped to fully realize the collection.

Photographed by Jordan Hemingway and choreographed by John Byrne, the campaign features the dance crew from Dua Lipa’s ‘Future Nostalgia’ tour, Samantha Grover (She/Her), Didde-Mie From (She/Her), Jason Nguyen (They/Them), Zaccary Mile (He/Him), Fatou Bah (She/Her), Robyn Laud (She/Her), Sharon Mangoendinomo (She/Her), Demi Mensah (She/Her), Kane Horn (He/Him), Lamaar Manning (He/Him), and Shawarah Battles (She/Her).

Exhale! PUMA and Cara Delevingne team up for more sustainable yoga collection

Sports company PUMA has teamed up with international actress, model and activist Cara Delevingne to create Exhale, a yoga collection made with more sustainable materials for which all unavoidable carbon emissions have been offset.

The collection, which is in its fourth season and consists of tops, tights and jackets, is made with more sustainable materials such as recycled or certified cotton and polyester. To offset unavoidable emissions that are created in the production process, PUMA has purchased carbon offset credits through First Climate in support of a project in Vietnam to build a biogas facility, which can help replace conventional fuels such as firewood and coal in rural areas.

“Yoga is the art of letting go but it is also about being conscious about the here and now,” said Cara Delevingne. “With this collection, PUMA and I also wanted to make conscious decisions about the materials we use.”

While sustainability has been the focus of the collection, Exhale does not compromise on the performance characteristics that are needed for a good workout. It uses PUMA’s highly functional dryCELL technology, which draws moisture away from the skin to keep you dry and comfortable.

At the same time, thoughtful design features, such as a stay-put fit for the tights, keep you looking well dressed, even in the most demanding yoga pose.

Between 2017 and 2021, PUMA reduced its own carbon emissions and those coming from its supply chain and the company is on track to meet its climate goals. Using more sustainable materials in its products and choosing renewable energy tariffs or buying renewable energy certificates for its stores, offices and warehouses is part of the company’s “Forever Better” sustainability strategy.

By 2025, PUMA wants to make nine out of ten products with more sustainable materials, such as certified polyester and cotton, which will help reduce the amount of water and chemicals used in the production process compared to conventional materials. The company also aims to increase the amount of recycled materials in its products, aiming for 75% recycled polyester by 2025.

Keep your head in the game: PUMA and Modibodi® introduce Period Pep Talks designed to keep women and girls in sport

Global sports company PUMA and absorbent apparel brand Modibodi®, have developed a series of Period Pep Talks with world-class female athletes - designed to encourage women and girls to stay in sport.

As part of the Period Pep Talk campaign, PUMA and Modibodi have designed a revolutionary new patent-pending period activewear collection. Launching this October, the new range will help women, girls and people who menstruate to feel comfortable and confident playing sport and being active during their period.

Period Pep Talks are a response to a globally commissioned report* that uncovered 1 in 2 girls quit sport due to periods. The talks feature world-class athletes including NRLW star Tiana Penitani, European sprinter Jodie Williams, and former professional race car driver Naomi Schiff, who directly address young girls and teens who are considering leaving the sport they love due to puberty and menstruation. The athletes share their own stories and experiences to help encourage girls to keep their head in the game.

“The data from our global report in May 2022, showed women and girls believe periods need to be more openly discussed in the sports world. That’s why we are proud to partner with PUMA to create the Period Pep Talks, working with their athletes to raise this issue in our global consciousness,” says Sarah Forde, Modibodi Head of Sustainability and Public Affairs.

According to PUMA Athlete Tiana Penitani: “I remember hitting puberty and finding it so hard to play on the field. The bulkiness of pads, the discomfort of tampons and the fear of leaking every month made me really nervous to play. One of the things I love about the new PUMA x Modibodi activewear is how they are designed to support the body whilst menstruating and in movement so you can play without fear of leaking or the discomfort of disposables. It's so freeing!”

PUMA Athlete Jodie Williams says: “I think it’s important for female athletes to share their stories and be as open as we can to help destigmatise the challenges of menstruating whilst competing. This is a global issue and one that will take us all speaking out to break down the taboo. The PUMA x Modibodi Period Pep Talks are an awesome way to connect with girls who are considering dropping out of sport and help to normalise menstruation. We need to tackle the stigma that women can't be active on their periods or when experiencing any of life’s leaks.”

PUMA Athlete Naomi Schiff says: “It is such a shame that the stigma around periods has and continues to hold girls back when it comes to sport. The PUMA x Modibodi collaboration not only brings innovation to the activewear market but it gives us girls and women wearable options that make it easier to be active at any point during a cycle. It also opens up the opportunity for a bigger change in the cultural conversation around the perceptions of periods in sport.”

The ground-breaking range combines Modibodi’s unique patent pending Activewear Technology with world-class expertise from PUMA. With a design showcasing innovation at its very best, the collection consists of two styles of activewear: leggings and cycle shorts with both styles available in two colours; aubergine and black.

This is the second installment from the PUMA x Modibodi powerhouse collaboration, after launching their first period and leak-proof underwear range in May this year.

“With 50 per cent of girls experiencing discomfort from disposable menstrual products like pads and tampons when participating in sport or physical exercise, we felt it was important to design a range of leak-proof activewear that would make playing sport on your period more comfortable, more protected, and more possible than ever,” says Erin Longin, Global Director Running and Training business unit at PUMA.

The PUMA x Modibodi activewear collection is available in selected stores and online at modibodi.com and puma.com.
