PUMA HOOPS AND BREANNA STEWART LAUNCH THE STEWIE 2 RUBY

Global sports brand PUMA and WNBA MVP and Champion Breanna Stewart are launching the Stewie 2 ahead of 2023 season.

Inspired by the elements of nature, the Stewie 2 outsole embodies fire, wind, and water to represent Stewie’s ability to be a force of nature both on and off the court.

 

In creating her second signature shoe with PUMA, Stewie celebrates the different areas of her life that drive her to be a force of nature. The debut colorway, Stewie 2 Ruby is named after Stewart’s daughter and is inspired by the grounding strength of motherhood.

“As I began creating my second signature shoe with PUMA, I knew I wanted to name it after my daughter, Ruby. Not only to symbolize the incredible bond I share with my daughter, but also to pay homage to the unwavering strength and resilience of mothers everywhere,“ said Stewart. “Being a mother inspires me to be the best version of myself everyday, and I hope wearing the Ruby colorway empowers others to recognize the limitless abilities and spirit within themselves.“ 

Following the momentum of Stewie’s debut signature shoe in 2022, the Stewie 2 provides the latest PUMA technology for all athletes to perform at the highest level. The performance hoops shoe features a PWRTAPE supported upper for durability and support when cutting and jumping, the midsole consists of a NITROTM -infused foam for superior responsiveness and comfort while remaining lightweight, and a high-abrasion outsole tread pattern for traction, ideal for quick cuts and spot up jumpers. A sculptural wraparound heel with flame detailing and Ruby’s birthday at the side complete this powerful silhouette for the hardwood and beyond.

A complementing apparel pack consisting of vibrant ruby red hoodies, tees, tights and shorts with allover flame graphics and Breanna Stewart and PUMA branding will launch alongside the Stewie 2 Ruby.

PUMA AND RHUIGI ARE HEATING UP NEW YORK CITY WITH RJ BARRETT AND CLYDE FRAZIER

New York’s deep love for basketball is at the center of the fourth “New York Worldwide” collection between longtime collaborators PUMA and Rhuigi.

This latest drop offers up a nostalgic range of footwear and apparel fronted by New York City basketball's past and present faces: RJ Barrett and Walt "Clyde" Frazier.

 

 

A story that has played out in the stadiums, schoolyards, and street courts of the five boroughs, the PUMA x Rhuigi collaboration designed by West Coast-based designer Rhuigi Villaseñor derives its creative inspiration from the cultural hub of New York City, while reinterpreting the style codes of Americana.

The latest collection features a curated assortment of footwear and apparel, all inspired by classic court aesthetics. PUMA’s Clyde Mid is dressed in a classic color scheme, with authentic worn-in detailing like the shoe’s pre-yellowed sole to capture the essence of hoop nostalgia. The accompanying apparel includes a Graphic Tee, Basketball Shorts, and an Oversized Tote. Exclusive “New York Worldwide” graphics acknowledge the city's impact on global music, style, and culture, reminding us that New York is truly a state of mind.

The campaign is led by none other than NBA star RJ Barrett and of course the namesake of the PUMA Clyde, New York City icon Walt "Clyde" Frazier.

PUMA’S SLIPSTREAM BBALL EMBRACES COURTSIDE STYLE

Made for the court, and proven in the streets, the newSlipstream BBall is an elevated evolution of PUMA’s ‘80s basketball classic.

The low-top silhouette brings the Slipstream legacy into the future, with punctuated lines, modernized details, and updated materials. PUMA’s signature Formstrip leaps off the shoe’s profile, creating a unique visual effect on the Slipstream’s upper. The reworked heel makes the Slipstream a statement shoe from all angles, while added cuts in the shoe’s upper reveal underlying color pops, adding another element to the silhouette’s modernized look and feel. Featuring a clean white upper in smooth leather, and hits of green throughout, the new Slipstream BBall is finished with a special badge on the tongue, commemorating over 30 years of basketball DNA.

PUMA celebrates the arrival of the Slipstream BBall with a sun-soaked editorial lensed by photographer Quentin De Briey, backdropped by quintessential West Coast street courts.

The original PUMA Slipstream was a high-top basketball shoe born in 1987 as a successor to the SKY LX. Presented as a performance model that was “engineered for the serious player,” the Slipstream was a pioneer for its innovative material makeups, which featured embellishments like faux snakeskin, leather, and faux fur.

A retro program in 2002 reintroduced Slipstream models like the Slipstream Snake and Slipstream Beast into the Japanese market, to appease an appetite for eye-catching designs that were popular at the time. Subsequently, the Slipstream was created in special made-in-Japan versions and other collectible editions. In 2022, PUMA brought back to Slipstream to celebrate the silhouette’s 35th anniversary.

Global sports company PUMA celebrates the renewal of the contract with Scuderia Ferrari as official team- and the racewear supplier going hand in hand with the launch of the Scuderia Ferrari collection Spring / Summer 2021. The range is featuring latest technologies and a blend of motorsport and fashion characteristics.
