Pop Culture Reinvented with the RS-100 and RS-0 Polaroid

Following the partnership announcement in Berlin and the reveal of the RS-0 and RS-100 Polaroid sneakers, global sports brand PUMA and consumer electronics powerhouse Polaroid today end the suspense by announcing that the sneaker pack will be launched starting September 8th.

“Instant photography” has taken on new meaning since Polaroid first introduced the instant camera in the 1940’s. We now have cameras that can fit in our pockets, cameras that fly, and more places to view these photos than ever before. The reinvention of photography has changed the way we travel, share stories, interact with our friends, and capture moments. The PUMA x Polaroid collaboration celebrates this story of reinvention of both industry giants.

The collaborative pack is a fusion of PUMA’s all new RS-0 sneaker and design hints from the iconic Polaroid OneStep analog instant camera.

The RS-0 Polaroid sneaker is inspired by the game-changing Polaroid OneStep instant camera. The sneaker features a premium white leather upper, micro perf vents, 6mm flat, reflective laces and the iconic Polaroid Color Spectrum graphic on the sneaker tongue.

The RS-100 Polaroid sneaker reimagines the 80’s RS-100 model with hints of photography elements. Between the two sneaker styles, the RS-100 Polaroid is the OG silhouette, keeping true to the retro style. The re-issue features classic Polaroid hues in color-blocked style in suede and leather overlays, finished with a reflective detailing, a play on the ‘flash’ from a Polaroid camera. The iconic Polaroid Color Spectrum graphic rainbow colors are used prominently, from the colorful outsole to the sneaker tongue.

Both shoes feature the PUMA and Polaroid branding found on the tongue label and footbed. For a nice touch, the shoes include a miniature version of a Polaroid instant photo in the Polaroid Classic Border Logo with co-branding used as a hangtag.

This milestone collaboration comes at a time when both brands are experiencing a cultural resurgence. PUMA has launched their latest RS-0, a reboot of their classic 80’s Running System (RS) line, with influential and creative brands, including Polaroid. These brands foster innovation through design, style, technology, and more, with each brand telling their own story of reinvention.

For Polaroid, this exciting collaboration is a representation of their rich 80-year history. While their heritage is deeply rooted in instant photography, the brand continues to create innovative, new technologies to deliver instant gratification and connect the world through sharing.
