Your Talent

  • 5+ years of experience in a buying, merchandising, or product management role within the sports, team sports, or retail industry, with a specific focus on football preferred.
  • Deep knowledge and personal passion for the sport, with an understanding of the needs and preferences of players, teams, and enthusiasts at all levels.
  • Excellent commercial, competitor and market awareness and product knowledge
  • Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint) with an emphasis on detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical skills – working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential, knowledge of Power BI or other reporting tools is beneficial
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize own workload with proven administrative ability
  • Eager to learn and flexible
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivator who is enthusiastic and keen to progress and develop; Active team player who constantly contributes and supports other members
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders in cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to take own initiatives and work independently on assigned tasks with little guidance as well as accept direction on given assignments
  • Excellent communication skills in English, fluency in German or another European language is beneficial

Your Mission

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Team Sports Buyer with a strong focus on Football to join our eCom buying team at Puma Europe. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the football industry, from grassroots to elite levels, and will be responsible for driving the product strategy for all football-related team sports products and further Teamsport categories. This role requires a strategic thinker with a keen eye for trends, and a strong commercial acumen to ensure the continued growth of our football category.

  • Work collaboratively with the Merch Planning team to create seasonal range plans and define detailed buy plans incorporating consumer insights, market trends and commercial opportunities. Agree targets for sign off with the Director Merchandising & Head of Buying.
  • Responsible for the selection of the eCommerce range from the divisional offer in alignment with the buy plan for your respective divisions.
  • Be the voice of eCom Europe. Attend and communicate eCommerce business needs during key milestone meetings.
  • Use range building blocks of commerciality, revenue vs equity, color, seasonality and price to build a rounded collection that delivers budgeted sales, exceeds consumer expectations and creates impact on PUMA.COM.
  • Stay in tune with market trends, competitor activity and developments in assigned geographic markets. Understand how current trends impact your categories from a PUMA point of view.
  • Work with Planner on selection ranking as input to forecast & final buy quantities based on qualitative and quantitative data. Share vision on depth needs, flow management from a visual, geographical & trend perspective.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department to make sure that product launches are translated in the best way.
  • Provide directional input to the content team for promotions and newsletters.
  • Work collaboratively with the Content and Site Merchandising teams to maximize trade opportunities and trading success.
  • In-season Management: partner with Category Management and Planning to analyze weekly sales reports and present key learnings, areas of opportunity and proposing and executing trading actions in order to improve sales performance.
  • Build a strong relationship with the Regional Merchandising Team in order to drive alignment between DTC and Wholesale ranges and maximize sales and profit.
  • Ensuring that we execute according to how we plan our buys, being able to foresee and vocalize if we are off track and creating plans to be on track.
