Your Mission

  • Manage the fabric team based in Herzogenaurach
  • Gather and share seasonal material newness with your Herzo / Boston colleagues
  • Being responsible for sourcing and commercialization of bulk fabrics / trims developed in Europe, Turkey and offshore
  • Ensure that PUMA quality requirements for fabrics and rims are met, and that the fabric and trims selected, are suitable for the end use of the garment types they are intended for e.g., tops, bottoms, outerwear etc. This means that we need to have test results on hand for anything we share with the business unit teams.
  • Research into new technologies, seasonal trends, competition, and products / markets and monitor social media for sport wear fabric / trim trends
  • Ensure material knowledge exchange on a regular basis including fairs and exhibition visits
  • Visit fabric mills & trim suppliers with your sourcing colleagues to keep abreast of Regional and Asian material developments
  • Update / Edit the internal material system with product specification – when necessary.
  • Support the seasonal Fabric & Trim library maintenance
  • Ensure the Product Innovation Manager publishes and communicates their progress on innovation projects monthly with all stakeholders
  • Carry out further assignments related to the job profile.

Your Talent

  • University degree in Textile Engineering, Fabric Development or comparable degree
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in sizable company
  • Comprehensive knowledge of textile production, fabric construction, functional performance properties, fibre and yarn dyeing, all over printing and panel printing techniques and finishing processes
  • Testing laboratory experience is preferable. Knowledge of RSL requirements                   
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • Good computer skills       
  • Excellent team player
  • Good contacts with supplies in Europe, Turkey and offshore
  • Experience in functional fabrics (both knit and woven) is highly preferred.
