The Team Head of Footwear Product Testing directly manages the footwear product testing team that drives fit and wear testing of assigned seasonal programs working closely and coordinating with the Footwear Product Development, UMass and Innovation teams and at times with other members of the Run/Train and Basketball business units.
As manager of the footwear product testing team in Boston, oversee all testing activities, including compilation of tester evaluations, analysis of returned shoes and crosschecks as needed to ensure the highest level of quality, fit, comfort and performance in our product.
Drive biomechanical and mechanical testing with the external testing labs and shares results with the Development and Business Unit teams.
Provide detailed recommendations for product improvement as needed to Development based on the testing feedback, and knowledge of footwear manufacturing and biomechanics.
Responsible for shifting of small quick turnaround biomechanics studies from UMass to the Assembly Row office in 2021 (Treadmill and IMUS) and expansion of the Assembly Row Lab in 2022 to include additional capabilities such as High Speed Video Analysis and In-Shoe Pressure mapping.
Continually drive improvements in the product testing process and communication with testers to assure feedback is available to the Development and Sourcing teams within the given timeline.
Stay current and knowledgeable on the various constructions, components and materials of the footwear being tested.
Ensure that the database of product testers is continually re-evaluated and improved. Manages that the team properly archives tested product and purges continually to keep product testing area well organized.
