The S.A.F.E. Concept

With our S.A.F.E. concept we developed a strategy to ensure a sustainable implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility issues along our supply chain. Further details on the PUMA S.A.F.E. concept can be found in the PUMA handbooks on environmental and social standards which are an integral part of all business contracts we establish with suppliers world wide. Signing a Declaration of Principles indicates agreement by suppliers to adhere to the PUMA standards and they are asked to implement these standards at their point of production.

A world wide team of 13 experts, engineers, technicians and lawyers make sure that these standards are kept through regular audits in the factories worldwide. Beside the auditing process frequent training activities, arranged by the S.A.F.E. team in cooperation with third parties as the German GTZ, the Fair Labor Association and other groups are carried out consistently. Through our membership in the Word Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry, WFSGI, we also have joint efforts in the field of CSR together with other brands.

Our S.A.F.E. concept is based on two parts:

  • National, international and own environmental standards

  • Stringent social standards based on Intl. Conventions and Standards such as those set by the International Labour Organization (ILO), SA 8000 (Standard for Social Accountability), other NGOs as well as our own standards, including internationally-recognized workplace health & safety regulations such those developed by OSHAs (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).

The intersection of those two parts forms our way to success!
